Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has always been one of the best places to visit if you want to explore the best places in both the UK and Ireland. Its popularity has also grown due to it being a key filming location for Game of Thrones. Northern Ireland has lots to see for those interested in natural landscapes as well as beautiful cities visitors can explore. With so many places to visit and see, here are some of the ones you absolutely must see when you visit Northern Ireland.

The Giant’s Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway is known for its natural layered basalt columns that were created by volcanic action millions of years ago. In addition to the beautiful stones, you can walk and sit on, there are lots of other attractions such as the Giant’s Gate and the various trails that take you to the top of cliffs where you can take magnificent pictures of the causeway. A visit to The Giant’s Causeway also takes you where the Atlantic Ocean meets Northern Ireland, which offers some stunning photographic opportunities.

Although you can explore the Giant’s Causeway yourself, if you want to have the best experience, a guided tour is the better option. By booking a tour through Allen’s Tours, you can learn the causeway’s rich history and let the guide show you the causeway’s hidden gems.

The Dunluce Castle

Before or after visiting the Giant’s Causeway, you should stop at Dunluce Castle. This is a medieval castle located a few minutes west of the Giant’s Causeway. One of the things that makes it a must-see attraction, apart from its rich history, is that it sits on the cliff’s edge, looking like it could topple over but never doing so. Exterior shots of this castle were used in some Game of Thrones episodes even though part of the kitchen plunged into the ocean centuries ago.

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge

If you drive 15 minutes north of the Giant’s Causeway, you will come to the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. You should not visit this bridge if you have vertigo, as it is located many meters in the air. The bridge connects the larger island to a smaller one.  The bridge is located close to the village of Ballintoy and you have to pay a fee to cross it.

Belfast

If you need a break from the natural landscapes and sights, a visit to Belfast would be a great break. The city has interesting architecture from different periods, making it an interesting one if you are interested in such sights.

Belfast is also home to the Titanic Belfast, where nine galleries showcase everything you would ever need to know about the Titanic. Other city attractions include the Belfast Cathedral, The Muddlers Club, and the Crumlin Road Gaol.

Northern Ireland is full of attractions and wonders that might take a tourist a few days to see and experience. Standout attractions include the city itself and many of the natural landscapes strewn all over Northern Ireland.
