Cinemas are all set to reopen and welcome audiences back in on May 17th. Unlike in 2020, big studio films are set to be released theatrically in 2021. This time studios are confident about giving the audiences the films that they have been waiting for.

Sound of Metal – May 17
The American drama film revolves around Ruben (Riz Ahmed), a punk-metal drummer who begins to lose his hearing resulting in him having to give up his passion and join a retreat to learn how to live without the ability to hear.
Nomadland – May 17
Nomadland, another American drama, has won a number of accolades earlier this year, including Best Film, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Cinematography.
The film follows the journey of a woman who has set off to live as a nomad following the death of her husband.
Rare Beasts – May 21
Romantic drama starring Billie Piper was a critic favourite when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019. The film explores dysfunctional relationships and gender inequality, straying away from the typical rom-com formula.
Cruella – May 28
Cruella is one of the most anticipated Disney live-action film of the year! The film is a prequel to Disney’s iconic 101 Dalmatians, which stars Emma Stone as the notorious Cruella De Vil and follows her early life in London which led her to become one of the most iconic villains in the Disney franchise.
Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It – May 28
The third instalment of the popular supernatural horror franchise is all set to release at the end of this month. This time however, the film is inspired by a real-life case moving away from the haunted house plotline used in the previous two films.
