Back in the day, when men just wanted to get some time alone, they would just go to the local pub. There, they would meet other like-minded men and drink alcohol until they felt secure enough to head back home. Not long after that, men started to form their own man caves. Mostly in attics and basements. But during and after the big pandemic, a lot of people (not just men) want to have a spot for themselves. A place where they can relax after a long day of work. Do you want to know how to create your own man cave? Here are 3 steps to follow.
1. Be inspired by others
If you don’t have a plan in mind before starting to create your man cave. Then it’s easier to take inspiration from others who’ve been there as well. So you should go to Pinterest and create a mood board. If you’re a man, you’re probably not that acquainted with Pinterest. Well, it’s time you should. It’s easy. First, you have to make an account which you can easily link to Facebook or Gmail. Then you type ‘man cave’ in the search bar and inspiration will come your way. From there you can pick your favourite ideas and try to implement them into your own actual man cave.
2. Think about the purpose of your man cave
Before you go on and try to decorate the man cave. It’s of importance to realise what the purpose of the man cave is. Is it going to be a hobby room where all your comic books are stored? Or are you going to make a pub or cinema room, or maybe both? Then, you really need to consider isolating really well. Because if you want to transform your shed or garage into a man cave, it can get really cold in winters and extremely hot in summer. So, unless you want to pay a lot of money for your electricity bill, you should isolate. Isolating also helps so the other people in your house don’t complain about the noise you make in your man cave.
3. Interior design
It’s time to let your inner interior designer shine. Luckily, there is not much that could go wrong with interior designing a man cave. Because this is a place where you can let your own creativity out. Don’t care about what others think, it’s all up to you. But what are some things that you can implement in your man cave? The most common things are: a pool-, ping pong-or air hockey table. But when you have a shed man cave, a jacuzzi, sauna or hot tub is a nice feature. For example, you can have a small jacuzzi for 4 people (Dutch: jacuzzi 4 personen) or a big jacuzzi for 6 people (Dutch: jacuzzi 6 personen). You also need to think about the music output. Do you want to go for an old school jukebox or vinyl player? Or do you want a surround speaker set? It’s all your choice.
Are you ready to create your own man cave? Whether it’s in the garage, attic, basement or shed, we’re sure you’re going to make it work. Have fun creating!
