Page 40 www.lux-review.com LUX 2019 Designer Awards The redesign eliminated indoor floor lighting, which had caused disturbance to tenants, as well as outdoor surface lighting fixtures which contributed to environmental damage. After careful consideration of the installation nodes of each lamp, attention was given to future maintenance and repair, and an asymmetrical angle was developed for the floodlights to avoid light pollution. In addition to careful re-examination of the original architectural lighting design, ULDA worked to save energy in the new design, adding intelligent controls and high efficiency fixtures to arrive at a solution both at the cutting edge of the its field and in advance of industry trends. Overall, the wholescale update of the façade lighting of the Taipei 101 skyscraper was an exercise in tasteful restraint on the large scale, and meticulous detail on the small scale -- all adding up to a transformation of this architectural icon that celebrates and renews its essence. Looking ahead, the creative solutions that drove the success of this project will continue to be developed by ULDA as the team builds on its successes and endeavours to create impressive, unique spaces with lighting that delights all who encounter them. The ULDA portfolio’s clients include well- known architects as well as significant developers and design companies, and encompasses projects from luxury hospitality to boutique commercial spaces and high-rise façades. The team works with artists and architects, through creative technology, to enrich building facades with lighting, enabling architectural lighting to more actively cooperate with buildings and their urban residents. Together, the architecture and lighting are enlivened to show unique performances and spark interactions, fostering new forms and feelings in the enjoyment of design.
