Family & Visitor Attraction Awards 2019
www.lux-review.com Page 5 As part of their drive towards supporting local food producers and suppliers, Bev and Sarah offer a range of promotional services as well as activities such as awards, all of which help firms to engage with clients, as they highlight. “To ensure suppliers make the most out of our events, we offer promotional services, which are out of reach to most micro-enterprises and attract up to 28,000 visitors per festival; with the support of sponsor Thatcher’s Cider we give free pitches and marketing support through the Bursary for new traders. We have an annual Local Food Hero award, for the primary producers who are really top of their game. These awards and services help local producers to make the most out of the opportunities that the festivals have to offer.” Aiming to create an accessible space where all visitors can enjoy a variety of activities and culinary delights, since they began eat:Festivals have been free to enter. As a result, Bev and Sarah have worked with a range of sponsors and supporters in order to host the events, as they explain. “Fundamentally, these events thrive because of our supporters and stakeholders. Our sponsors and local authority partners are invaluable to making the festivals a success and we work hard to maximise their return on investment through our place making, promotion and great reputation. We have developed a suite of festivals that embody the change they know is desired in the host towns. Their success depends largely on the engagement of the local community as visitors, traders, partners and volunteers, and we are proud of the amount of work we all put in to making these unique festivals a success.” With even more events on the calendar for the future, Bev and Sarah are excited for what the remainder of 2019 has in store for eat:Festivals, as they proudly conclude. “Moving forward, 2019 is looking busy, with three new towns on the horizon: Castle Cary in May and Nailsea and Minehead in October. We also have some new collaborations in the pipeline too. We are also launching our two-week exploration of the countryside and producers’ facilities “West Country Food Adventures” in July. This gives members of the public a chance to see behind the scenes; really getting to the root of where their food comes from. “Ultimately, all of these new projects are exciting, and when we work on them we are constantly looking back to our roots and exploring whether they fit with the values of eat:Festivals. These will remain central to our focus as we look towards a bright future filled with new exciting new events to host and more food producers to meet!”.
