This of course did what all negative and corrosive behaviour can do to one’s mind and body. He tells us, “I realised I needed help with fighting all kinds of troubles in my brain and whole body, including my gut. This was my hardest struggle as I was getting reactions from pretty much everything I put in my mouth, even water. One day, I started researching for answers and doors were opened, and I began the process of healing my mind and body, naturally.” Now, Henri creates natural superfoods containing only natural, fresh, and clean ingredients – without cutting any corners. Through the proper fermentation process, he bioactivates natural food products to bring out their various beneficial properties. Without this process, the human body would have a harder time absorbing the Henri Hekanaho founded The Kefir Guy Company as a personal hobby, with an interest in living foods and their healing properties to the human body. He uses kefir, the strongest fermentation in the world, to create eatable, drinkable, shakeable, and pourable nutrition that have various beneficial properties for the human body. Henri works as a scientist to discover new products, as an engineer to find ways to produce them, as a researcher to really dig deep into understanding how ingredients work, as well as a regular guy who manages his superfood kefir shop serving his own locally made products. Henri says, “Here, we work in a very smooth way. We do what the microbes tell us to do. You can’t make the process faster or slower. When the natural fermentation is done, it’s really done and you have to act according to your situation. This way we have no same days ever in this job, which is pretty cool when you think about it.” He continues, “This ensures there are no situations that can jump around the corner and you are filled with stress and pressure about it. Kefir actually means ‘feeling good’, so why wouldn’t The Kefir Guy have this in all aspects, including the culture of our establishment? I usually say, ‘just show up and good things will follow’. In other words, stick your hands in the dirt and see what’s inside. You can’t see what’s inside or right in front of you if you don’t step inside. Usually there’s something you need to go even further. You just have to believe it. That’s what faith is, believing something until it appears.” The Kefir Guy also has a good network of business partners, some of whom are high quality superfood producers, too, so Henri makes their products available for purchase in his shop alongside his own. Henri only sells products he uses himself, which allows the company to operate with complete transparency. Those coming into his shop and buying these products are people who have been hurt by modern food, having been eating dead food for 10-30 years. Thanks to the products supplied by The Kefir Guy, they are seeing positive results in terms of their body, mind, and even sleep quality and overall lifestyle. However, manufacturing kefir products is only about 30% of what The Kefir Guy represents – It takes a holistic approach towards health and fitness, covering all major sectors of human life, which are spiritual, psychological, physical, and emotional. Henri’s wife, Elina supports in the fitness side as a trainer/ instructor, and she also works as a dance movement therapist. Henri is a licensed personal trainer, too, as well as works as a life coach. He hosts motivational speeches and classes covering subjects from the affects of poor diet on the body, to life itself with all its struggles and victories. A temporary trainee also lends a helping hand to the company, with Henri commenting, “We’ll see how he performs and also if he still likes this after the agreed period. If there is a possibility to grow and recruit more people inside, I’m sure there has to be a true interest in this field. I need someone who speaks the same ‘language’ as me, otherwise it would be very difficult to teach intricate details of the living micro world.” Now, Henri is excited about the future of his company and the industry, sharing, “I hope and believe that health business is going to boom even more as people get more understanding of what we have lost in the last 100 years. When people discover living foods again, then things will start to change in modern culture’s dietary habits. People do not need that so-called ‘sugar fix’ anymore, because their guts and brains are working as they should. In line with the brain and the whole body.
