Food & Drink Awards 2023 | 31 For a true Nordic experience, look no further than the picturesque Radis Noir (in English, Black Radish), a delectable Canadian pub and cafe. Located in Sainte-Anne-Des-Lacs, in Quebec, the venue sits in the heart of the Laurentians region, near the majestic Laurentian mountains. It is nestled in a joyous woodland setting, which is often home to festive event evenings and live music. Best Restaurant Laurentides P.Q. Canada is also an important part of the company’s message. This is because a radish has deep roots, signifying a firm anchoring in the north, like the team who work there. The black part of the name represents a nod towards rebellious youthful exploits. Fred is known to all as a triathlete who carved his path in the restaurant business whilst pursuing studies and serving as a frontline paramedic. Sylvain is known as a snowboard world cup champion. Together, the two men at the helm are respected for their current skills just as much as their past. They are known and respected for always being able to offer a smile, as each day promises a unique experience. With the face of dining constantly evolving, it's all about unlearning what they already know, and instead striving to achieve bright, future innovations. Radis Noir Pub Nordique & Café has been named as the Best Laurentian Restaurant 2023 in the Food and Drink Awards. We are delighted to see the venue being recognised in this way, and look forward to seeing where it goes next on its creative, culinary journey. Company: Radis Noir Pub Nordique & Café Web Address: https://www.radisnoir.ca/ Contact Name: Sylvain Proulx The Radis Noir is a new restaurant in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, owned and operated by creative culinary enthusiast Sylvain Proulx, alongside his partner in crime, versatile mixologist Frédéric Duchesne. Sylvain is well known as a former professional snowboarder (in the 1990s), with numerous cups won, and global tours under his belt. Eventually, he hung up his fluorescent sportswear as the call of the foodie world became irresistible. Over the preceding 23 years, Sylvain has gradually built up his credentials as a chef-owner of numerous molecular cuisine establishments, and been recognised as best chef in Canada for the years 2017 & 2018. His new restaurant Radis Noir is standing ready to charm and delight customers all year round in the Laurentians, at Sainte-Anne-Des-Lacs. It invites guests to come along and discover what it has to offer, perhaps whilst sampling each specially created signature dish on the menu. The venue is also proud to offer a variety of live performance from visiting performing artists on a regular basis. The pub and café offers numerous delicious foodstuffs, from European style morning baguettes and croissants, to freshly prepared lunches, grab and go sandwiches, and freshly brewed coffee that’s available all day long. The cozy Nordic experience that awaits visitors is complemented by the venue’s beautiful woodland setting, roaring open fires, and amazingly friendly and welcoming community. The key to Radis Noir’s success lies in its innovative approach to the business, which stems from a background encompassing private event organisation. Seeking creative solutions has become a way of life for the pub/restaurant, who will happily turn its hand to creating bespoke events such as romantic evenings for couples, children’s birthday celebrations, or the curation of a delegate meeting event/hotspot. Everything is available from the same address, where the dedicated team of staff will ensure all clientele receive a personalised experience every time. The idea of Radis Noir emerged in part from the concept of ‘La Fabrique des Petits Bonheurs’, which is a kindergarten for 130 children that’s modelled after a Scandinavian nature concept. Keeping it in the family, this kindergarten is located next door to a pub owned by Frédéric’s mother and Sylvain’s girlfriend. The name, Radis Noir (Black Radish)
