When we sit down with family and friends there is a sense of oneness, we share stories, reflections and laughter and tears and create new memories. This is the philosophy that Memorys was built on and we feel very privileged when chosen to be the location for a celebration whether it be a small gathering of eight or up to 60 guests. “As such, our menus are designed specifically for each function or event so that it makes it more special and unique. Also on offer is event catering, which means that guests can take a little bit of Memorys with you to any function or celebration. Platters and finger foods with a difference are a speciality. Celebration cakes can be made to order with a large variety of flavours available and we can cater for most dietary requirements. Whether the client needs it to be healthy or indulgent, our cakes are all guaranteed to be beautiful, decadent and delicious, like all our dishes.” Seeking to continue her family’s legacy, Sue and the team at Memorys have a bright future ahead, as she is excited to conclude. “Overall, Memorys has now been operating as a Boutique Country Café Restaurant for three and a half years and is starting to be recognised by gourmets and food lovers across the Canterbury region. Today, it is a space where guests can relax, meet new people and enjoy good food. Sue discusses the process of creating this exceptional eatery and how all her family’s hard work has paid off. “Like all good things in life, Memorys started as a dream many years ago: a dream of creating a place where people could go to their home away from home. A place where guests could enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, with good food, music and great company. Over the preceding years there had been opportunities to pursue the dream, but the timing was not right, and so we kept dreaming. “Then 11 years ago my husband and I chanced upon a property that was up for auction. Totally on impulse we went and visited it and although it was in an extremely run down and overgrown condition we instantly envisaged the potential of what could be created on the site.Our three daughters were not convinced, but we knew we could make it work, and over the years we have toiled tirelessly to make our dream come true, bringing them on-board along the way. We have now created an intimate boutique establishment set amongst mature trees and a well-established garden.
