Having recognised this unique venue in our prestigious 2018 Food & Drink Awards we profile this relaxed and welcoming establishment to find out more and explore how far it has come since it was taken over by Mark and Angela Gunner. The Easy Breeze Best Casual Eatery & Piano Bar - the Lake District Previously, the venue was a dated tearoom, but it has now been transformed into a stunning, vibrant eatery. When guests walk in, they are greeted with vintage rural decor, exposed stone and original beams. The bar is handmade from whatever was found in the proprietors Mark and Angela’s old barn, and includes an old Volvo bonnet, corrugated iron and various left-over fence posts, and cattle troughs hang from the ceiling illuminated by rows of filament bulbs. For those who fancy a bite to eat, the food at the Easy Breeze is simple, fresh, home-made and hearty. A little different to what guests will find in a run-of the mill eatery in the town of Bowness-on-Windermere. In the evenings they offer various stone-baked pizzas and burgers, and of course, this is all going down to a soundtrack of music that is so eclectic it is commented on daily. The Easy Breeze prides itself on its music and the team cater to everyone, playing everything from Billy Joel to Bon Jovi, Beyoncé to Bing Crosby. Every weekend they have live music from Richard, the colourful and immensely talented piano player who has become a well-known musical guru around town. Greatly proud of their establishment, Mark and Angela feel very lucky that all their staff seem to grasp what ‘The Breeze’ is all about. It has such a wide demographic of customers and yet all of them are there for the same reason: to have a great experience, which the staff ensure they do. Together they work hard to maintain the venue’s relaxed atmosphere as well as its 5* Food Hygiene rating. The café also has a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and now, with the Lux Life Award for the Best Casual Eatery and Piano Bar, hopefully The Easy Breeze will continue to flourish and be enjoyed by everyone who crosses the threshold. Ultimately, it took a lot of work to create what is now The Easy Breeze but judging by the fabulous reviews they have accumulated over the last few years, it seems like a lot of people out there are very happy that they did. Over the coming years Mark and Angela will continue to adapt and innovate in order to maintain their establishment’s reputation as a relaxed and comfortable eatery and bar where everyone is welcome.
