Following its well-deserved success in the LUX Global Excellence Awards 2020, we caught up with Bob Wilkie to find out more about one of the best sport and lifestyle mental health programming specialist in Canada today. I Got Mind Inc Best Sport & Lifestyle Mental Health Programming Specialist - Canada Nov20838 Over the years of being heavily involved in sports, Bob Wilkie realised that the athletes he was coaching were heading down the same path he had travelled. Unmet expectations, striving for perfection, pressure from coaches and peers, all of which leads to anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. As a result, I Got Mind was established to support and educate as many people involved in sport as possible. Going into further detail, Bob begins by providing us with a brief overview of the firm and outlines some of the steps it takes to ensure the firm achieves its objectives. “As a team of experts we are dedicated to supporting others with their mental health. Fully aware that society has issues around the stigmas of mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and addiction, our educational platforms and programmes are designed to eliminate the ignorance and erase stigmas that hinder openness to communicate with each other. Working with thousands of individuals every year, this allows us to stay in tune with the issues of people. Rather than guessing, we are able to develop programming that addresses issues because we listen to the participants and hear what they are experiencing.” Through its own research, I Got Mind Inc has discovered one of the most powerful ways to support others is through peer-to-peer support. Moreover, as Bob goes on to explain, this is typically what differentiates the firm from others in the industry. “Through our learning management system we facilitate online learning to individuals and organisations anywhere in the world. Typically, our facilitators undergo extensive six months training to ensure that they are prepared, educated, and understand the issues to be able to support those in need.” Regarding the internal culture in place, as a goal-focused organisation the team has developed a culture of positivity and self-care, as Bob is keen to highlight. “Here at I Got Mind, we understand that if we are to help people we must set the example ourselves. Together, we communicate openly and honestly, holding each other accountable to use the tools that we teach. Based upon our core values of wellness, communication, and integrity, we are also committed to training our team to allow exceptional services to be delivered.” Despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the firm has still managed to thrive during these difficult and uncertain times, as Bob elaborates further. “The pandemic has certainly amplified the social issues of mental health with stress, addictions and suicide being at an all-time high. However, our programmes are a convenient and effective solution to help people who are struggling and want to learn how to eliminate the issues they are experiencing. Naturally, we have learned that crisis provides opportunity, and we are seeing a great number of individuals and organisations fight the stigma with the desire to learn and improve.” Looking ahead to what the future holds for the firm, Bob signs off by sharing one or two exciting plans the firm has in place for 2021 and beyond. “For 2021, we have set big goals including the expansion of our team from 20 to 40. Furthermore, we will continue to innovate and create more programmes to support the mental health issues within society as we know they will continue to increase from the COVID-19 pandemic. The long-term effects will start to show themselves more and we will be at the forefront to support those in need.” Company: I Got Mind Inc Contact: Bob Wilkie Website: www.igotmind.ca
