30 | LUXlife Magazine reating visually stunning, affordable pieces of handcrafted jewellery, Jewelry Blossom’s mission to capture a small piece of the landscape, saving it to be admired every time a piece of its jewellery is worn. As Jane explains, “nothing is more important to us than bringing the beautiful natural world of flowers and fauna into the jewellery that we make by hand each and every day.” Through these pieces, the brand succeeds in blending Chinese and Western aesthetics, something reflected in its team, comprised of craftsmen from China and designers from around Los Angeles. As a landscape architect, Jane was drawn in by California’s vibrant flora, with this serving as the inspiration for these breathtaking pieces, driven by what she describes as, “a profound appreciation for the natural world.” This sector was not new to Jane, who was familiar with the process thanks to her parents, who owned a jewellery workshop in China. In her childhood, Jane could be found, “watching with wide-eyed wonder as they meticulously crafted exquisite pieces of jewellery, blending precious metals with vibrant gemstones”, and these early experiences undoubtedly contributed towards the business’ existence today. Two distinct lines with totally separate processes make up Jewelry Blossom, with the first being focused on using real flowers and the second eco-acrylic. Turning real flowers into pieces of wearable art is no easy task and the delicate, artistic nature of this process truly underpins the uniquity of the brand. It all begins with selecting fresh flowers, particularly those with bright colours and robust petals, before drying these flowers with silica gels, a process that usually takes several days. From here, the resin has to be prepared, before the findings (earring hoops, necklace chains, bracelet clasps) are cleaned and primed. Once the flowers are completely dry and possess the desired papery texture, they are arranged accordingly, before the layer of resin is added using a fine brush or dropper. The next stage involves using UV light, which dries and hardens the resin, usually taking just a few minutes each side. From here, the penultimate stage is simply to attach the findings, before the finished product is inspected and a quality check carried out. As one can see, such an undertaking is no easy feat, it requires a considerable amount of manpower and a skilled team giving it their all, in order to capture the unique, timeless essence of a flower in every piece. Through its eco-acrylic offerings, Jewelry Blossom can create products of all shapes and sizes that represent a perfect and idealised version of the flowers we see in nature, using little more than a 0.5mm Most Creative Nature-Inspired Jewellery Retailer - Western USA Jewelry Blossom consists of a small team working out of a small design studio in the Greater Los Angeles area, designing and producing pieces of jewellery and accessories that are inspired by flowers from across the world. We catch up with Founder Jane Lee, a Chinese immigrant based in LA whose unique vision set the wheels in motion for a jewellery store like no other. shrinkable polymer sheets, colouring powder, a hot air gun, as well as glue/UV resin gel. What follows is a fascinating process that hinges on carrying out several intricate steps effectively, beginning with the designing of the petals, drawing the desired shapes onto the polymer sheets, before adding vibrant colours using the powder. Once the petals are coloured, the next step really brings them to life, with intricate lines being added with a knife to provide the depth and realism present in every piece of Jewelry Blossom jewellery. One must then carefully cut out the petals, before using the hot air gun to unleash the power of the polymer sheets. As the heat shrinks the material, it folds inwards, into an exquisite 3D version complete with the curves and contours that adorn real flowers. Using the glue to attach these petals together, lifelike flower formations are created and turned into stunning pieces of jewellery. Today, every piece in Jewelry Blossom’s catalogue acts as a true testament to Jane’s heritage and current home, ultimately reflecting a deep appreciation for her craft and the ever-lasting connection she has to her family’s legacy. Looking to expand into other areas such as bags, hair accessories, and clothing in the near future, the brand’s offerings serve as the perfect gifts for every occasion, from weddings to birthdays, and beyond.
