Global Wedding Awards 2024 | 39 Best Seasonal Wedding Florists 2024 South West England Posey Rose is a luxury wedding florist in the Cotswolds that specialises in seasonal floral designs for weddings in the South West of England. The company’s whimsical designs are produced with sustainable floristry techniques that have little impact on the environment. Following the company receiving its title in the Global Wedding Awards 2024, we speak with floristry expert and company Founder Michelle Hill to learn more about her craft. Michelle Hill established Posey Rose in 2018, following the birth of her daughter Posey. After a long career as a social worker, Michelle found it difficult to juggle her career, motherhood, and her passion for floristry. She made the decision to take the plunge into full-time floristry and has not looked back since. Posey Rose is primarily run by Michelle, who takes on much of the responsibility for the business. A team of freelancers work alongside Michelle to assist her with floral designs and wedding set ups. The company provides beautiful floral designs for weddings and funerals in an array of different styles. Michelle will communicate with the client upon the first enquiry to get a better understanding of their specific tastes. They will go over the clients’ favourite flowers, colour schemes, and any props or vessels that could be used with the display. In regards to funeral bouquets, Posey Rose produces designs that are personal and bespoke to the individual in question and will work delicately with the client to produce a design that fits the client’s loved one perfectly. In addition to event arrangements, Posey Rose also offers floral arranging workshops for clients looking to develop their floristry skills. Led by Michelle, the workshops are two hours each and can cover a variety of themes including flower crowns, festive arrangements, dried wreathes, and living wreathes. Materials required to make the arrangements are provided by Michelle, and clients can take home their work as a memento of their time together. These workshops are ideal for hen parties in the weeks leading up to the wedding. As Michelle carries out most of the work done at Posey Rose, weddings are booked in limited numbers each year. Less bookings gives Michelle ample time to connect with her client and produce a bespoke design without feeling rushed or pressured. This means that each bouquet has been lovingly arranged and thought out in its production and is of the highest quality. All floral designs are made with quality materials and a high level of care. Michelle tells us, “We strive to use sustainable floristry techniques wherever possible and seasonal British blooms from local growers. We work with couples looking for luxury wedding flowers and strive to use local and seasonal produce, conscious of the environmental impact that their wedding day can have.” Posey Rose has made a commitment to the environment, and this is reflected in the company’s floristry methodologies. Flowers are sourced seasonally from local vendors, and Michelle has also started her own allotment to grow flowers for her designs. For now, she tells us, “I have a small team of consistent freelancers who work with me. One of them is also a flower farmer and she grows specific flowers for me based on the weddings in the books.” Michelle does not use floral foam in any of the designs, which is a non-biodegradable, single-use plastic material often used to stabilize and hydrate flowers in bouquets. Additionally, Posey Rose is sure to recycle any wastage produced when making floral arrangements and donates any remaining event flowers the following day to ensure that nothing goes to waste. 2023 has been a successful year for Posey Rose, full of innovation and creativity as the company’s sustainability methodologies have developed. Looking to the future, Michelle says, “As we go into 2024, we are looking to bigger weddings with abundant design concepts running through a whole venue.” The luxury florist is looking to expand its scale and broaden its reach across the market. We look forward to the future of Posey Rose on its mission for environmentally conscious floristry that comes at no compromise to style.
