The website was created by Victoria Woollaston, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of mamabella, who is dedicated to helping people discover selfcare and gain confidence. After suffering from postnatal depression, Victoria Woollaston found that she struggled to reconnect with herself and her identity. She lacked confidence when it came to makeup, was intimidated by the counters at beauty stores, and felt like she was falling behind as a woman. She discovered that she was not alone; many of her friends, colleagues, fellow mums, and family members said they had experienced similar feelings in the past. Victoria was fuelled by determination to help anyone feeling inadequate and insecure by enabling them to gain confidence and feel beautiful, no matter their age or budget. This is what inspired her to create mamabella. Aimed at those who have dark circles, fine lines, blemishes, oily skin, thinning hair, bingo wings, wobbly bits, and more, mamabella is a science-led online health and beauty magazine that delivers honest product reviews, tutorials, and guides on ingredients, brands, and beauty trends. Victoria explains, “I believe we're offering a refreshing, inclusive take on beauty that puts honest and integrity first.” Striving to create a website that welcomes users from all walks of life, Victoria has worked hard to make mamabella approachable, userfriendly, and accessible. She is dedicated to creating content for people who are often overlooked by mainstream beauty content, for example people who are short on time, money, or cosmetic expertise. She believes that makeup should empower these individuals, not intimidate them. “We aim to be the kind of website we want to read, where we feel seen by the beauty industry and don't feel excluded because we don't fit the typical standards of beauty,” Victoria comments. With a newsletter that reaches 12,000 subscribers and a TikTok channel followed by 37,000 users, it’s clear mamabella creates content that people want to see. The website is committed to its users and strives to serve as a tool for people to learn how to take care of themselves properly and gain confidence in the process. Recently, mamabella launched the Reader Review Panel to increase user involvement in its content. As part of this, the website regifts some of the products it receives, sending them out to readers for them to review themselves. As a result of its inclusive, informative, and honest content, mamabella has been awarded Best Health and Beauty Website in the Health Beauty and Wellness Awards 2023. In the coming months, mamabella is planning to launch a new website, which will be designed to make content easier to find.
