Health, Beauty & Wellness Awards 2024

36 | LUXlife Magazine Best Clean Regenerative Skin Care Company 2024 - USA Skincare has become increasingly popular over the years, especially with the general population’s focus shifting to encompass more self-care activities following the rise in acknowledgement of mental health struggles. Products rise and fall in popularity as trends come and go, but do we really pause to consider exactly what we are using on our skin? Here, we speak with Regina Bauscher, Co-Founder of Honey Sweetie Acres, to learn more about the importance of clean skincare products. Located in Owensville, Ohio, Honey Sweetie Acres specialises in producing skincare products made with real goat milk. The company focuses on utilising non-harmful ingredients across its wide line of products, including body soaps, facial skincare products, and aromatherapy creams. Honey Sweetie Acres stands apart because of its commitment to using pure, real goat milk rather than the heat-treated powder laden with additives used by many other brands in the market. “A large percentage of our customers have highly sensitive skin and have had reactions to commercial products. Our goal is to help people find comfort in their skin by using clean, pure, nature-based ingredients that have not been adulterated by manufacturing processes. Raw butters, high-butterfat goat milk, and organic, sustainable oils are combined into products that do no harm to the skin,” Regina tells us. When Honey Sweet Acres’ Co-Founders Regina and Steve met in 1996, Steve was employed as a professional carpenter and Regina worked for a Fortune 500 Chemical Company making ingredients for high-end cosmetic companies. Regina was unhappy with the ingredients that she saw in these cosmetic products and began to use her chemistry education at home to create kinder products. In 2011, the couple moved out to the countryside and returned to their agricultural roots. They much preferred the freedom of growing their own produce, and longed to dive into the world of raw goat milk. Soon enough, they adopted Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats to start their journey to farm-grown freedom. Steve’s carpentry profession had left him with an ongoing skin condition that caused cracking, peeling, and bleeding on his hands. Prescribed solutions were not helping his condition, so the couple turned to what they knew would work – the farm. One month later, and their farm-made goat milk soap had cleared Steve’s skin condition. Steve and Regina began to offer their products to friends and family, before taking a year to develop the formula until it was perfect. Regina’s background in chemistry, paired with the couple’s shared desire to operate as sustainably as possible, resulted in an environmentally friendly product. All vendors used by Honey Sweetie Acres are certified as cruelty free through the Leaping Bunny Program, and the company only uses palm oil sourced from RSPO Plantations. Regina says, “We are transparent about the ingredients we use, where they come from, and how we manufacture the products so that the final product is a friend of the skin. We encourage consumers to leave the commercial world behind and experience what truly ‘farm fresh’ means.” Elaborating on the farm’s dedication to good ethics, Regina tells us, “We are one of very few Certified Humane Goat Farms in the United States that make skincare products. We submit to yearly inspections on the care of our animals, are transparent about our farm, and we set up dates for customers to visit the animals themselves. Additionally, our Palm Oil gives the indigenous Palm Oil farmers a way to support their families and thrive on Palm Oil production rather than the previous corporate model which damaged the earth. We continually strive to improve our products with biodegradable packaging and sustainability practices.” The journey has not come without its challenges for Regina and Steve, but no obstacle is too big for Honey Sweetie Acres. The rising costs and limitations of certain premium ingredients has pushed the company to be more resourceful, in one instance introducing organic, high-oleic safflower oil to counteract olive oil shortages. Looking forward, Honey Sweetie Acres plans to expand its reach across the market and branch out into large-scale retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. Not only that, but the company will be engaging with more spas. Particularly, it will focus on slowly introducing its line in Florida, the spa capital of the world. Honey Sweetie Acres is unwavering on its mission to provide organic, cruelty-free products for sensitive skin, and it for this reason that LUXlife Magazine has recognised it as the Best Clean Regenerative Skin Care Company 2024 – USA.
