We spoke to Founder and Creative Self-Executing Manager Michael T’Sjoen below, as Made by Tune is named in the Home and Garden Awards 2025. Founded in 2012, Made by Tune is the brainchild of Michael T’Sjoen also known as Tune and was joined later on (2019) by Magalie Durieux. Together, the husband-and-wifeduo leverage their individual strengths to create real results for their clientele, turning their combined passion into realised projects. With Tune’s extensive training in carpentry and his education in mechanical techniques and industrial woodworking, alongside Magalie’s expertise as an interior architect and scenographer, each project undertaken is a true labour of love that not only meets but exceeds client expectations. Made by Tune offers clients a wide range of services, from joinery and welding constructions to laser and engraving work, from stage and scenic to technical assistance on an array of productions. Refusing to ever shy away from a challenge, the business is perhaps best known for its prowess in undertaking customised woodworking projects, producing pieces of such innovation and quality that have a high standard in ergonomics and durability. While Made by Tune is renowned for its thoughtfulness in every aspect of its services, it is this offering that enables the business to remain dynamic and adaptive in a competitive market. “We strive to help our customers as best we can and therefore have the motto ‘if it is technically possible, we will do it’,” Tune told us. “Our customers often come to us with something special they cannot find in a store. That’s what we are known for, and what we also love to unleash our creativity on. Our range can go from a small, unique ring box to complete makeovers of domestic and outdoor spaces to welding work and décor for theatres, musicals, and events.” When undertaking a new project, the pair will first conduct a brainstorming session with the client to gain a deeper understanding of their vision. This is followed by a quote proposal, then conceptual elaboration and a detailed discussion before the production and placement is completed. This approach, alongside Tune and Magalie’s passion, ensures consistent and client-centric services across every project undertaken. Its most recent project was the production of a large shell and accompanying rock formation for a Belgian girl group commissioned by Studio 100. As the structure was to be used for performances, it required remote operation at certain times to open and close the shell. This project posed certain challenges for the pair and its team, who opted to turn obstacles into opportunities and demonstrate exactly why Made by Tune is one of a kind as a manufacturing company. “One of the challenges was finding the right air pressure and pumps, and authenticity in form for the right dimensions of shaping the shell and rocks,” Tune recalled. “We started from a technical drawing and the necessary milling work for the frame. We placed Isomo blocks against it, and then I could go wild with a chainsaw and sander. We hid the technology at the bottom of the shell and there was also a system inside that could drive it to anywhere on stage with a remote control. This was produced in just under two-and-a-half weeks.” Ultimately, Tune and Magalie thrive off of variety and enjoy the customisable aspect of their work.
