This accommodation provides visitors young and old with the chance to stay and sleep with unparalleled views of some of the most magnificent creatures on Earth. We take a closer look to find out more about this extra special staycation – perfect for families, friends, and couples. Be it a whisker away from Sumatran tigers, African lions, cheetahs, or red pandas, or relaxing on a private balcony overlooking grazing areas of African elephants, rhinos, and giraffes, West Midland Safari Park’s Safari Lodges offer something to the nature and animal lover in everyone. Guests visit the Park and accommodation from across the UK, and they all share the passion for conservation and appreciation of wildlife that encompasses the vision of the Park. The team at Safari Lodges pride themselves in offering a unique luxury break suitable for every occasion. This begins at check-in, where guests’ belongings are transported to their lodge while they are given tickets, ride wristbands (during summer season only), and a welcome pack including a map, guidebook, and animal food, to enjoy everything West Midland Safari Park has to offer at their own pace. A dedicated team of hosts are on call 24-hours a day to cater to the needs of guests and are always happy to stop and chat about any of the animals that inhabit the Park. Every stay in a lodge also includes a three-course evening meal and breakfast. Every guest can enjoy full access to the Park, including the four-mile-long Safari Drivethrough, walking trails, animal encounters, and Adventure Theme Park. With the unique nature of the experience, there is no set way of doing things, and guests are free to spend their time in any way they choose. For some, it’s a trip straight to the lodge at 2pm to enjoy the surroundings for as long as possible, while others will spend time in the Safari Drivethrough, feeding and greeting animals, before riding the adrenaline-fuelled rollercoasters. Safari Lodges cater to all possible ways guests choose to spend their time, with its team of talented chefs crafting a new, innovative menu that is made fresh on the day of arrival using local ingredients and stored in the guest’s in-lodge refrigerator in glass jars. The offering allows for flexibility and convenience to warm and serve meal selections at their leisure. With so much to see and do, the team wants the schedule of guests to be in their own hands and enjoy the Lodge for as long as possible. Safari Lodges is also mindful of the environmental impact of this method: the glass jars are reusable, the transport used to deliver the jars are electric and the suppliers it chooses to partner with provide an alignment to the sustainability and ecological issues the Park holds dear. This is further reflected in the team’s commitment to hiring locally. With most of the staff growing up nearby, the passion they have for the collection of animals and general excitement towards the advancement of the Park is steeped in a proud sense of nostalgia, which shines through in every honest and friendly interaction. People from the local area are naturally talkative and friendly, and in the hospitality industry, these traits are priceless. The Safari Lodges team wear the love for their job on their sleeves and know that a smile goes a long way in creating a truly welcoming environment. 2024 is set to be an extremely busy year for the team, with eight more lodges planned to open, bringing the total collection to 34, overlooking nine incredible species. Four of these lodges will offer incredible views of Arican wild dogs, the first of their kind in Europe, while two will serve as the only place in the UK where you can stay overlooking hippopotamus. Two of these new lodges will also be accessible, meaning that next summer there will be a total of four wheel-chair friendly lodges. The team have also recently announced two lodge cubs, with one adorable red panda cub, named Lushan and one adorable Sumatran tiger cub, named Lestari, both being born this summer. Any guests who visit Safari Lodges in the coming months may just wake up one morning to find one these adorable creatures walking right past their window!
