Before embarking on this journey, the pair were avid sailors living in the Netherlands who had become frustrated with the bad weather they commonly experienced when trying to sail. After a number of transformative trips to Greece, both Joyce and Pim knew that something needed to change. These vacations were certainly a welcome break from their lives back in the Netherlands, but they were also incredibly costly and left the pair penniless upon their return home.
