We are available if they require assistance, otherwise their holiday or break is uninterrupted. The cottage facilities and fit out are of the highest quality, whilst maintaining a rustic charm. When over 50% of your guests are repeat visitors and the average length of stay is over five days, you must be doing something right! I believe we offer all the creature comforts of home and provide an ideal sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of city life.” Although tranquillity and peace are what guests look for when they visit Elm Cottage, Deborah and David are conscious that they also require all the modern comforts as well. Remaining one step ahead of their guest’s needs has been the establishment’s focus from the beginning, as David is keen to explore. “To ensure that we are always ahead of our guests’ ever-evolving expectations, we are constantly innovative and adapting around their needs. Elm Cottage was the first with a website within the region and to date we have remained at the forefront of guest expectations with available technology. The most significant Elm Cottage, Tumut, is the brainchild of Deborah and David Sheldon. Developed from an overstocked, drought ravaged 62-acre parcel of land in 2003, the establishment has since morphed a thriving, much sort- after rural retreat for both the domestic and international visitors. David discusses how the establishment has flourished since he and Deborah first created the concept. “When we first planned Elm Cottage we believed it would be the ideal base camp for potential guests to discover the magnificent Snowy Mountains and Riverina Regions. However, it has become for many of our guest’s their holiday destination, hence our vision and philosophy “The Elm Cottage experience is ever evolving. At present, five cottages have been developed, with the latest ‘Yellow Box’ fitted out for the use of those with mobility problems, as well as acting as a unique small business events facility or wedding reception venue.” Alongside its exceptional range of facilities, Elm Cottage also provides welcoming, friendly hospitality so that guests feel relaxed throughout their stay, as David highlights. “From the moment they arrive, we aim to offer guests an exceptional experience that will stay with them for many years to come. If they arrive during daylight hours, Elm Cottage has a reception area at the main house where guests are greeted and for first timers escorted to their cottage and provided with a familiarisation tour. If guests arrive after dark they are advised to proceed directly to Set against a backdrop of the sublime landscape that is the Snowy Mountains, Elm Cottage is a welcoming haven of tranquillity which accommodates everyone, from individuals through to couples, families and even pets. David Sheldon, half of the husband and wife team that run the establishment, shares an insight into this unique venue and how it aims to welcome guests from all walks of life with open arms. Elm Cottage Best Cottage Accommodation 2018 - Riverina development however has been a ‘pet friendly’ environment, and this is something we have incorporated to ensure that guests are able to bring their four-legged-friends to stay in comfort.” As he explores the future, David is excited about the developments he and Deborah are undertaking over the coming years to further enhance their already incredible success. “Overall, at Elm Cottage, our philosophy is simple: ‘the Elm Cottage experience is ever evolving’. As such, we are currently at the next stage of installing batteries for the solar systems to ensure that we continue to move to a carbon free environment. We will continue to provide our guests with the very highest possible standards of hospitality so that they continue to return and recommend our perfect country haven.” Company: Elm Cottage Contact: David Sheldon Address: Little River Road, Tumut, NSW 2720, Australia Phone: 02 6947 5818 Website: www.elmcottage.com.au
