LUX July 2017
LUX - July 2017 7 A Celebration of Love “We demand so much of ourselves, so to ensure the best possible service to our clients we are constantly in ongoing training, being aware of innovations in the sector, participating in the bridal events, summits and networking. “What we offer in our company is a totally personalised treatment. We know that celebrating a wedding is sometimes something very emotional and intimate and for that reason, we want our clients to feel special and well cared for on our part. We keep a single interlocutor to manage the entire process and to facilitate communications. We also meet the suppliers personally and have a direct deal with them.” Natalia adds that to stand out from their competitors is hard at times, because they are working in a very competitive industry, but Make it Happen BCN work towards the ethic of ‘a job well done’ on a daily basis. One Day, One Wedding “A plus point for us is our motto ‘One day, one wedding’, which we strictly fulfil. This is, that we are not only working exclusively in the event planning sector (without combining it with other jobs as some wedding planners do), but we are also 100% dedicated to making our clients’ dreams come true. We book each day for a single couple and we don’t hold several events on the same date. That assures our customers, that the planner who has organised all the celebration, is the one who is assisting and coordinating the wedding day. “Another difference from our competitors is that we don’t have intermediaries and the company is not franchised with different headquarters. For that reason, we can keep the high-quality standards that we demand to ourselves and we can guarantee the exclusive dedication to your celebration. “Our market is mainly international customers who want to celebrate their event in Catalonia. But not any type of wedding, we don’t stand for weddings ‘made in series’, instead we love challenging us to focus in building bespoke unique moments that will bring our clients’ dream to life. Our distinctive feature is the attention to details that we give and the capture of the genuine individual personalities of our clients in the different sides of the event. “We have been professionally trained with the best of the wedding sector, but working in exclusivity with some providers is not our style. So, this fact assures our couples that we are going to find the perfect vendor for their wedding. We do have our reliable suppliers, but even so, we always look for that one that totally fits their needs. The Bridal Industry “Every year we can see different trends coming out… There are two main elements that influence on what is going to be trendy. The first one is the colour or colours that the Pantone Color Institute chooses at the end of every year and proposes it as the colour of the year. For 2017 we have ‘greenery’ as colour of the year.” Natalia points out that bridal fashion is the other element that also has an influence on decoration trends. As in other sectors, the important designers have much to say about the styles, that the crowds will follow. “We are completely in love with this season’s trend. The greenery colour that can be found in nature, is represented in the wedding decoration by olive leaves garlands as table centre piece, aromatic herbs for a seating plan, some big tropical leaves for place cards, hanging terrariums… “What we saw also in the last bridal runways were light fabrics, transparencies, craft textiles and the way that this has transferred to wedding styling is with the use of natural tablecloths, organic linen, neutral shades, materials like raffia and rattan, semi-nude wooden tables with only a table runner and a more informal way of guests’ distribution with rectangular tables. “We do not get obsessed with following the fashion dictates. For us is more like an inspiration rather than an imposition. Of course, if we have a very trendy couple that want their wedding to be at the forefront of fashion, we do define a decoration that follows the current trends. But we prefer designing a genuine style that is a perfect reflection of each of our couples and one that makes sense to them. “As a family business, our fixed workforce is not very large, so the whole team participates in the projects. We all share the same objectives and achievements and to reinforce these, we have meetings before and just after the end of the wedding season to define guidelines, resources and to assess the development of the project concerned.” Celebrations in Barcelona Currently, there is such a degree of intrusiveness in the wedding planning sector in Spain, that it becomes very difficult for anyone to really know who is a professional or who is not Natalia explains. She goes on to develop this point in more detail. “Since the crisis began, the wedding planners are appearing without control, for example ladies who have just got married and they already call themselves wedding planners. Or the restaurant commercials who tell the fiancés that they are wedding planners, but do not take care of anything that does not have to do with the restaurant. “In our view, it seems that the sector is starting to recover after many years of recession. All this is due to the rise in the number of marriages, the increase in wedding expenses, the potential of Barcelona’s wedding tourism and to the exports of Spanish haute couture fashion abroad. “A plus point for us is our motto ‘One day, one wedding’, which we strictly fulfil. This is, that we are not only working exclusively in the event planning sector (without combining it with other jobs as some wedding planners do), but we are also 100% dedicated to making our clients’ dreams come true.”
