LUX - July 2017 9 A Celebration of Love “A new client profile has also emerged: The millennial bride who marries later because she cares about her professional career, has more money saved for the wedding, the opinions of the parents do not matter so much when making decisions and arrives at the altar with much more information thanks to the digital era.” Natalia then defines the profile of the new client and what they expect. “This new client demands weddings with a smaller number of guests but giving a greater dedication to attention to detail. The destination weddings are gathering strength within the sector among foreigners and even the lately so trendy elopements in couple to celebrate a super intimate wedding and in beautiful places. The option of celebrating a weekend wedding to enjoy with family and close friends is also winning supporters. “Derived from these changes, we have found some challenges to face. One of them, it has been the high level of exigency that are acquiring the weddings in terms of decoration. To handle this new demand, we are creating unique decorations (from furniture to photo call backdrops, going through seating charts or wedding favour corners) with local artisans. “At first, as our profession was still not well known, many couples were not sure about what to expect. But once they start working with us and clarifying their ideas, their expectations increase and they begin to visualise their wedding as an event where everyone enjoys, instead of a simple celebration of two. To fulfil these requirements, we work with the best suppliers in the sector for each couple, we collaborate side by side with our clients and we have also extended our range of services to adapt to their requests.” Looking ahead, Natalia envisions what developments she foresees within the industry as well as, what the future has in store for Make it Happen BCN. “At Make it Happen BCN, we want to continue to grow in control. Rather than the amount of work done, we value quality and want to continue to distinguish ourselves by the professionalism in which we develop our services. Also, we will continue to strive to position ourselves as a reference company for the destination weddings of both Barcelona and Catalonia. “With regards to what the future holds, the bridal industry will continue to have a significant weight in the domestic economy, however the concept of the weddings will vary somewhat. Previously, the weddings consisted of a ceremony with an important religious part and a banquet; Now, the focus of a wedding will be more towards treating the celebration as a global event: with its corporative image in the stationery and for the wedding favours, more symbolic ceremonies, less traditions, more entertainment and other formats of receptions.” In the end, we consider the weddings as a big party in which love is celebrated between two people, does not matter in which way Natalia underlines. “Since we started working it was clear that our company had to have a more globalised approach in terms of event management than the rest of the companies, which perhaps they offered a more partial or limited service. In this way, it has been much easier for us to follow the pace of the evolution of weddings and events in our country. “Catalonia is a splendid region to celebrate a wedding. Its pleasant weather makes possible to celebrate events all year round, even in those less warm months you will probably enjoy the gentle winter sun rays. Our hometown country can satisfy wishes of both sea and mountains lovers and it will probably far exceed expectations. “We usually recommend, as being traditional and exclusive in Catalonia, to enjoy the full experience of getting married in an ancient farmhouse (emblematic Masia), replete with history and memories, to spend a memorable weekend with your loved ones. Maybe we can also prepare on the next day a post-wedding lunch to recover forces after a whole night dancing and celebrating.” Although eventually all weddings can be summarised as ‘a celebration of love’, we want each of them be different from the others.
