Construction on Villa Arrigo began in 1887, overseen by Cesare Garcin of the Garcin family. Named after the family responsible for its construction, the property remained in their lineage for almost a century before it was sold to the Agius family 99 years later in 1986. They, in turn, rented it out to Ralph Arrigo, who christened it with the name it holds to this day. The final pieces fell into place in 1998, when the late Ralph’s daughters purchased Villa Arrigo and grew it into Malta’s premier luxury event venue. Villa Arrigo has been operating as a highend events venue since it was first sold in 1986, hosting countless dinners, receptions, and other events over the last 39 years. The last three decades in particular have seen this colonial-style property and its beautiful gardens blossom into the ideal setting for grand weddings and banquets, playing host to notable dignitaries and high-profile guests from all over the world. This is due to Osborne Caterers, a firm initially based out of the Osborne Hotel in Valletta, joining the fold. Osborne Caterers started out life as a small firm, but the expansion of the business was fuelled by the list of customers who appreciated both its food and its professionalism growing increasingly longer. Realising that the next step in the evolution of its brand was to move away from operating out of the Osborne Hotel and offer an exclusive catering service from an exclusive location, the company joined forces with Villa Arrigo. Subsequent decades have seen these teams set a new gold standard in event delivery. The property itself has also been enriched over the years, with practical outdoor spaces complementing Villa Arrigo’s classy décor. Combined with its location in the exclusive San Pawl tat-Targa locality of Naxxar, Villa Arrigo is the ideal setting to impress across events of any capacity. Jake explained: “The Neoclassic venue has been altered to accommodate weddings and events from A to Z. For example, our state-of-the-art, all-weather grand marquee has an amazing sound system and is sound proof.” As for the food, the fact that Villa Arrigo is not a hotel or restaurant means the team are not splitting their focus between other diners or menus – everything is dedicated entirely to the client and their event. It also helps that Osborne Caterers’ forte is serving fresh and perfect food, with its selection of dishes all looking like they have been taken straight out of the kitchens of some of the world’s foremost five-star restaurants. More impressive is that this catering service is budget friendly and represents affordable luxury. Having perfected these services within its current offerings – “we leave no stone unturned when it comes to following up on what we promise to our guests”, Jake told us – Villa Arrigo is excited to announce the next stage in its development. The property will soon introduce six luxury villas, designed to accommodate a number of guests and their families, just 60 seconds away from the venue itself. Each villa will come with its own pool, five spacious bedrooms, and an abundance of recreational space for clients to enjoy. “When these villas are complete, Villa Arrigo will stand in a category of its own. We will be able to accommodate for everything from small parties to massive weddings with all the food, beverage, and sleepover options expected of a one-stop-shop venue.” With these exciting times ahead, Jake reinforces Villa Arrigo’s pledge to be a trendsetter moving forwards.
