New Year 2019

37 Kim Bailey Interiors (KBI) is a boutique interior design firm based out of Dallas, in the state of Texas. In November, the firm was recognised by LUXlife Magazine’s as the ‘Most Outstanding Interior Design Firm of the Year’. We interviewed Kim to find out how they distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive sector. For over fifteen years, Kim Bailey Interiors have focused their efforts on delivering ‘personalised luxury’, believing that the key to truly great interior design lies in a bespoke, tailored approach catered entirely to the individual client. This client-centricity has become, over the years, the defining ethos of Kim Bailey Interiors, securing their success in an increasingly competitive market. Kim starts an initial consultation by discussing this aspect of the business further: “We believe that our philosophy of ‘personalised luxury’ is very unique. Ultimately, we design for our clients, not for ourselves, taking the time to listen to our clients and translate their ideas into an aesthetic that not only has longevity but is functional and beautiful.” For residential interior design in particular, this holds especially true. The home is, by definition, an incredibly personal thing, forged by experiences, interests and memories. Success relies in being able to capture the essence of the client and magnifying it across the design space. “Every project is unique, just as every client is distinctive, so our portfolio and clientele are both diverse. Our firm’s successes are the result of bringing personalised luxury to every project.” Further, Kim Bailey Interior’s multi-generational approach to design reinforces this idea of collaboration, offering different perspectives in every design brief. “Our firm’s differentiator is that we bring a mother-daughter design team to the marketplace, which provides balanced results to every client project, leading to different, but cohesive designs.” Moving on, Kim takes a moment to discuss how the firm adapts to industry developments- not least of which is the increasing role that technology has on their work. Unlike many of their peers, Kim Bailey Interiors aims to utilise technology to emphasise their inherent strengths. Nov18123 “We are proud to be one of the first design firms in the Dallas area to utilize digital 2D design and now, 3D design. With every project, we employ technology throughout the entire process. Technology has created so many new opportunities for our industry, and we’re working to continue to be an innovator in this space.” Outside of technological concerns, the design sector is notorious for moving quickly: what can be in vogue one year can be thoroughly outdated by the next. Great design, as Kim explains in more detail, should be timeless- not tied to a specific era but transcending it. “Though we often incorporate trends in our designs, we make sure to do so in moderation, acknowledging them without building an entire room around a trend. We always strive to ensure that every aspect of the design provides a timeless look and feel, whilst still aligning with the vision our clients have for their spaces. We feel like great design thinks outside the box and creates its own style reflective of the people who live there.” On the back of this, the conversation turns to KBI’s staff, and, in particular, how the firm hires new talent to complement Kim and Lauren’s expertise. “KBI begins the hiring process with multiple rounds of interview as well as completing our Core Values Index (CVI) to find team members we believe will represent the values we hold, represent the KBI brand, and fit the overall team dynamic. Ultimately, we believe that this has resulted in a firm that excels in both design and customer service.” In her closing comments, Kim discusses the future of Kim Bailey Interiors, as they look towards increasing their presence in national markets through media appearances. “In the next 6-12 months, we will be featured in six different segments of the Creative Living television program that will be airing in forty US television markets. In early 2019, we will also be featured in a local CBS-affiliated television program – “This is Dallas”. Last, but certainly not least, KBI was asked to be the exclusive designer for a new industry business – KB Studios. The ten vignettes showcasing the kitchens and bathrooms for the studio were designed solely by the KBI team will be featured in the new KB Studios showroom located in Richardson, Texas. This new showroom will open in early 2019.” Contact: Kim Bailey, Owner and Lead Designer Company: Kim Bailey Interiors Address: 2611 Westgrove Dr #107, Carrollton, TX 75006, United States Website: kimbaileyinteriors.com Style Mastering Personalised Luxury in Interior Design
