To start, Julian provides a brief overview of the family run holiday park and offers more insight into its typical clientele. “With our static caravans, flats and touring and camping facilities, we appeal to people of all ages but typically families and retired couples tend to be our core customer base. During the summer months we have a bar, restaurant and an open-air heated swimming pool available. The whole atmosphere at Waverley Park Holiday Centre is very family oriented and laid back, which allows guests to relax and unwind during their stay with us.” Setting and maintaining its high standards has been a key factor behind the success of the holiday park, and as Julian goes on to explain, its personal approach has helped in this regard. “On a constant basis we improve our facilities, and the park is maintained to a very high standard. As a very hands-on family-run park, we have the ability to notice even the smallest details. Naturally, we realise that everyone is different therefore we try our best to look after people as individuals which is not always possible on the larger ‘corporate’ parks.” Regarding its internal culture, Waverley Park Holiday Centre has a family spirit with teamwork being at the centre of everything. As Julian points out, “With our staff members viewed as friends, we have seen excellent staff retention and many of our customers look forward to seeing the same characters they remember from previous years. New staff members learn to pull together and realise that the holiday business is rather different from other sectors. Often this is some people’s only break of the year and it is very important, especially this year, that they have the opportunity to relax and unwind.” Waverley Park Holiday Centre is a small family-run holiday park on the Isle of Wight. Following its well-deserved success in the Resorts & Retreats Awards 2020, we got in touch with Julian Adams to find out more. Waverley Park Holiday Centre Most Family-Friendly Holiday Park - Isle of Wight Despite the outbreak of COVID-19 this year, the UK hospitality industry managed to prosper during the summer months as a result of overseas travel restrictions. Julian added “There has been an upsurge in campers this year, probably influenced by the pandemic. People have been worried about foreign holidays and realise that camping and social distancing go together naturally.” Finally, Julian comments on the future prospects of Waverley Park Holiday Centre as we look ahead to 2021 and beyond. “Moving forward, we will continue to improve and develop the business as usual. Normally, we undertake large improvement projects during the winter months, last year we totally renovated the bar area for example. This year, we took the decision to concentrate on maintenance and make the already incredible product we have as perfect as we can. For example, we have constructed a brand new swimming pool filtration building and upgraded the system to improve on our already excellent water quality. We look forward to a wonderful summer season and continuing our carefully considered enhancements.” Company: Waverley Park Holiday Centre Contact: Julian Adams Web: www.waverley-park.co.uk
