LUX Resorts & Retreats Awards 2024

38 | LUXlife Magazine Caravan & Touring Park of the Year 2024 – Cornwall St Agnes is a charming village sitting on the north coast of Cornwall, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With 360° views of the stunning landscape of rolling hills and the azure sea, the area is becoming increasingly popular for tourism. For those looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant Cornish culture, we recommend paying a visit to St Agnes Holiday Park, who understands that a truly memorable holiday is about more than the destination. As the park is named in the Resort and Retreat Awards 2024, we speak with Owner Amanda Keen to learn more. Not your typical caravan vacation, St Agnes Holiday Park presents its guests with an exclusive, scenic retreat to the picturesque Cornish countryside. Whether you are visiting Cornwall to take advantage of the amazing surf breaks, looking to traverse the Cornish coast, or simply looking for a place to pause and take in the scenery, St Agnes is the place for you. Cornwall offers visitors a thriving community boasting an array of shops, cafes, and galleries, as well as breathtaking scenery and a rich history of Bronze Age burial sites. Tourism is the biggest sector that contributes to the Cornish economy, and is reported to support one in five jobs. In fact, Cornwall DMC reports that tourism works hand in hand with a variety of sectors including farming, transport, retail, sports, and the arts. Tourism makes up 25%-28% of gross value added of Cornwall, and Cornwall DMC estimates that the visitor economy could be as much as £2.4 billion over the year. To accommodate for the high levels of tourism within Cornwall, it is imperative that resorts and retreats strive to provide high quality services and facilities that encourage guests to return each year and contribute to the economy. St Agnes Holiday Park provides an allencompassing service that features numerous high quality facilities for its guests. The selection of gorgeous holiday homes at the park are available from March through October, with the additional opportunity to purchase one of the park’s brand-new holiday homes so that you can own your own piece of Cornish paradise. “Catering to diverse needs, we provide 12 touring pitches, each with its unique dimensions and amenities,” says Amanda. “Our on-site facilities are second to none, featuring a state-of-the-art gym, sauna, and a steam room. For our younger guests, there’s a charming play area and, not forgetting our furry companions, a dedicated dog exercise area to let them roam free.” What makes St Agnes Holiday Park stand far apart its competitors is the park’s dog friendly approach. Guests can access a secured dog run for their pets to stretch their legs after a long car journey, a convenient dog shower at the park centre, and welcome packs for pets in each holiday homes. Returning guests are reported to seek out the park’s own mascot and resident pooch, Charlie, who certainly makes the guest experience more personal through interactions. As with many industries, the hospitality sector saw a decline in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amanda notes that the park has seen a decrease in the frequency of holiday bookings, as many no longer possess the disposable income for multiple getaways each year. However, St Agnes Holiday Park is working to counteract this decline by delivering social media specials and website discount codes that are encouraging more reservations once again. Furthermore, the park has also adapted its offerings, providing stays ranging from 1-21 nights with the understanding that not all can afford the standard seven-day stay. Looking forward, Amanda tells us that St Agnes Holiday Park is focusing on increasing its offerings to make the stay just that much more enjoyable for its guests. By extending the park’s opening hours to offer homemade meals to guests, as well as a variety of cakes, coffees, and locally sourced ice creams, the park is certain to increase guest satisfaction, whilst simultaneously connecting with local Cornish businesses to do so. She says, “From now on until the end of 2024, the team at St Agnes is excited to take full advantage of our new on-site shop and explore new opportunities!” With big plans in the works, the future is prosperous for the team.
