8 | LUXlife Magazine he story of Camping on the Gulf began in 1937, when one woman took her first trip to the panhandle of northern Florida. Here, she found pristine beauty in the surrounding crystal white beaches and aqua blue waters, an unforgettable experience that drove her to take many trips to South Walton with her family over the following years. In 1968, the family’s love for the area had grown, culminating into the purchase of a property in Miramar Beach to turn into a campground – one known fondly today as Camping on the Gulf. More than 85 years later, Camping on the Gulf remains wholly dedicated to sharing the beauty of South Walton with its guests. Whilst the area has evolved and transformed over the decades, Camping on the Gulf has always operated with the aim of giving people a place where they can truly relax, feel at home, and create memories that last a lifetime. Camping on the Gulf invites its guests to relax, unwind, and reconnect, serving them with an ethos rooted in treating people with kindness and following the Golden Rule – treating others as one would want to be treated themselves. “As a family-owned resort since 1968, that sense of connection and care has been part of who are from the very beginning,” Kimberly told us. “We believe in hospitality that feels genuine – welcoming people with a smile, helping when it’s needed, and making sure every guest leaves feeling like their time with us mattered. We also value hard work, teamwork, and integrity – doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We remind our staff that they’re not just doing a job; they are helping families make memories, and that is something pretty special.” Camping on the Gulf is a world away from your average campground; the site is located right on the beach, meaning that guests can step out of their RV or cabin and walk straight into the turquoise water of the Emerald Coast. With a variety of sites – comprising beach sites, beach front sites, Upper Park, and North Upper Park sites – the campground is able to cater to all guest needs, ranging from direct beach access and sewer hookups to pet-friendly spots and grassy areas.
