26 | LUXlife Magazine the emotive, story-rich experience that guests return for time and time again. Whether preparing a cottage, greeting a guest in the café, or adding a personalised touch to a stay, the Angel’s Aisle team understands that true greatness comes from the emotional detail of a stay. Looking ahead, the team are preparing to undertake a number of developments geared at enhancing the guest experience at Angel’s Aisle. One of the property’s most significant projects is the renovation of Cottage 3, with plans to add a second bedroom and a more “masculineskewed” vintage design. Angel’s Aisle will also see the introduction of an Angel Wishing Fountain, a heartfelt addition that will raise funds for breast cancer support. This initiative holds special significance to all at Angel’s Aisle, as Christine has recently been given the all-clear after aggressive Stage 3 breast cancer. The fountain will become a destination and place of hope, reflection, and community generosity. At the same time, the team is looking to expand Angel’s Aisle’s offerings with a locally curated minibar, featuring food and beverage products from Stanley’s small businesses. In addition to elevating the guest experience, this initiative will strengthen the property’s connection to the region it proudly represents. In the summer, Angel’s Aisle plans to introduce a pop-up dinner restaurant, which will open Thursday to Sunday during peak periods. This addition will bring a new layer of atmosphere to the property, offering guests intimate, seasonal dining within the heart of the village. “We have an exciting and deeply meaningful year ahead at Angel’s Aisle,” Richard concluded. “Together, these plans reflect our commitment to evolving with purpose: staying true to the emotional storytelling at the core of Angel’s Aisle while creating new ways for guests to connect, experience, and remember their time in our yesteryear village.” Contact: Richard Gard Company: Angel’s Aisle Cottages & Café Web Address: www.angelsaislecottages.com.au uilt in approximately 1830 as a four-room Georgian cottage, Touchwood Cottage is the oldest private house in Stanley. In its first decades, the cottage functioned as part of a small but selfsufficient farmstead, one of the earliest private farms in the area. It has been home to a number of notable owners over the years, each adding their own distinctive chapter to the property’s legacy. A new phase of Touchwood Cottage began in 1984, when March Leech and Ben Dixon gave the property new life. The pair constructed the commercial building that is now known as Touchwood Café, along with the Gardean Loft Cottage. New custodians Richard and Christine came to Touchwood Cottage on Valentine’s Day 2025, a change of hands that brought about an entirely new era for the property. The new custodians renamed Touchwood Cottage to Angel’s Aisle Cottages & Café in honour of their daughter Angelique, who is also lovingly known as Angel. At just six years old, Angel experienced a rare accident that would change her life forever, yet her heart and spirit continue to inspire everyone around her.
