Specialising in revolutionary LED interior & exterior lighting, halogen lights, Illuminated yacht names and logos and exclusive custom fittings. We invited Managing Director, Julie Clark, to tell us more about herself and the firm. Savage Marine work primarily with super designers, architects and project managers for some of the wealthiest and high profile clients in the world. By working closely with its clients, the company brings its expertise on lighting into the design at an earlier stage, ensuring product specification, selection and technical details are available at crucial points of the design plan. As well as providing excellent products, the company also focuses strongly on supporting its clients. The company is headed by Managing Director, Julie Clark. Discussing her role at the firm, Julie informs us that she oversees the superyacht projects and is always looking at ways to grow the business. Alongside this, Julie highlights that it is a family business, noting her daughter Amy joining the firm. It is clear that everyone is motivated and committed. “Being Managing Director, I have been part of the Company for over 17 years, working closely with Shipyards, designers and project teams. I head the superyacht projects and I am always looking at ways to grow the business. From a young age, my daughter Amy has grown up within the business, and today she is the works operations manager, ensuring projects get delivered on time and within budget. We have our own in house design team and engineering department, as well as operating our facility Monday to Friday 24/7. All of our team are motivated and committed employees and we have invested heavily over the years to ensure we have the most up to date manufacturing and testing facility.” To ensure that clients receive the service they need, Julie tells us how important customer service is to the company, commenting on how important it is that staff listen to customers and that they never shy away from a problem. She also discusses some of the current projects the firm is involved in along with the upcoming developments within the industry. “A crucial part of our business, we work hard to provide clients with the services and support they need. We aim to deliver, looking to match and even exceed our client’s needs and requirements. We do not have problems, just issues, which we always offer a full solution to. Staff listen to client’s demands and along with the design teams, we turn their dreams into reality. “As a firm, we are involved with some of the largest new build yachts in the world. In addition to this we have seen a demand in the refit market to upgrade the lighting systems to LED. Boasting a wealth of expertise within the business, Julie also talks to us about the variety of services the company can offer and she is particularly excited about the lighting output, citing LED innovation to ensure the correct ambience for the client. “Moving forward I think the main areas of concern is Brexit, 85% of our business is located within the European Union therefore is of upmost importance that the government agree the best trade deals for UK manufacturers and for the European clients. “Savage Marine have our own in house testing centre, we can measure light output, and can even colour match the LEDS to ensure the correct ambience is selected for the client requirements, with availability of the industries most experienced lighting control technicians we can provide the clients with colour change and mood lighting at the touch of a finger.” Ultimately, the future looks bright for Savage Lighting, with staff constantly looking at new technologies, the company will most likely stay ahead of future developments, being proactive rather than reactive and during these exciting times, the company growth is expected to remain at 15% year on year. “Staff at Savage pride themselves at being a very proactive company. We constantly look at new technologies, lighting trends and with our own in house engineering facility, all our products are engineered to last. We are naturally progressing into larger commercial markets and have been involved in high end cruises and hotels, along with luxury residences. These are very exciting times for the firm which is seeing company growth at over 15% year on year for the last few years, this growth is expected to remain to the foreseeable future.”
