LUX Spring 2018

16 1803LU23 The Destination of a Lifetime The Hanging Gardens of Bali is a luxurious destination located in the heart of the jungle, and situated near Payangan: a village North of Ubud, with its hotel resting in the centre of the magical island of Gods. We spoke to General Manager, Gary Rosen who tells us more about the attractive venue and the services that the team offer to entice clients. Completed in 2005, the Hanging Gardens of Bali overlooks the Ayung River and ancient Dalem Segara temple. The perfect location in a number of ways, the award-winning resort stands on the edge of a stunning valley, surrounded by lush rain forests and picturesque rice terraces. Situated in a memorable and fascinating location, the concept of the Hanging Gardens of Bali was to create something magical and authentic in the heart of the Balinese jungle. Visitors and guests are allowed to immerse themselves in the experience of a natural tropical environment. The resort holds a hotel and a restaurant, which guests are able to use as the perfect getaway from a hectic lifestyle, and enjoy a truly natural experience. Leading from the reception to the restaurant is a winding path of 88 steps, built with Feng Shui principles to mean infinity and stability of energy. An exciting destination, the resort consists of 44 private villas whose architectural and interior design are all made to blend into the natural surroundings, intended to give the highest level of comfort and pleasure that reflects a sense of discrete luxury, combining contemporary and traditional Balinese decor with signature hand-crafted furniture, exotic fabrics, open-aired dining areas and spectacular master bathrooms. The verdant gardens have an indigenous flora and fauna such as cocoa and coffee trees, which blend serenely with bamboo, flame trees and orchids to create a unique tropical paradise for visitors and guests to experience. Gary explains how the team at the entire resort work hard to provide the best possible service to guests, commenting on the techniques which are employed to ensure that a visitor’s visit to the venue is memorable for all the right reasons. “The Hotel’s 200 professional team members are all mostly recruited from the surrounding villages in and around Ubud, and they have been trained from zero to hero. Every team member is committed to fulfilling the guest’s wants and needs, as well as being dedicated in enhancing the experience to the maximum and being trained to give the ultimate in service. “Alongside team’s dedication to providing an excellent service, we also ensure that when a guest first enters the resort, their initial impression is favourable. The Balinese smile and service ethic is what makes our team special, radiating good and happy vibes.” Telling us a little about the team at the Hanging Gardens of Bali, Gary mentions that most of the team are employed at a young age and are given time to develop their skills in order to deliver an exceptional experience to those visiting the resort. “Most of our team members start at very early in their careers, and flourish over the years. Service is in their culture and it is easy to bring it out of them as it is already in their nature, as skills are something that we trained for them to master. Vision and goals are shared and ongoing training is conducted to reach our vision and common goal.” Apart from its luxurious scenery, memorable views, and outstanding facilities, there are many aspects which help the restaurant and hotel at the Hanging Gardens of Bali to stand out amongst other luxurious resorts. Gary explains how the team’s customer service and exquisite food are all reasons as to why guests leave the venue excited at the thought of the returning. “In terms of what makes the establishment unique, our team is a customer’s first point of contact with our establishment, as customers interact with an employee who acts as an ambassador. We believe that if you get it right at the start, the experience will end flawlessly.
