LUX Spring 2018

Drenched in history and exuding prestige, Villa Di Geggiano London draws on its heritage to create an utterly compelling dining experience that is not to be missed. For connoisseurs of authentic Italian cooking, this is an experience not to be missed. Head chef Emanuele Morisi, formerly of Assaggi, heads up the world class kitchen, having been taught to cook by his grandmother as a young boy. His dishes are inspired by the region’s rich and abundant cuisine, with highlights including La Bistecca Alla Fiorentina and Le Salsicce Toscane. Alongside the decadent repasts it provides, Villa di Geggiano is also famed for its selection of fine estate wines, many being sourced from the Bianchi Bandinelli estate in Siena and other neighbouring Tuscan estates. The bar area also offers a range of innovative cocktails, including a refreshing Cucumber Highball and an exotic Basil and Black Pepper Margarita, which will delight even the purists with its unique combination of flavours. Resplendent throughout the restaurant boasts a romantic terrace, ideally situated for al fresco dining on long summer days and proves a hidden gem amid the bustle of West London. This traditional terrace gives way to the restaurant, where diners are met by an interior embellished by an ever-rotating selection of artists, along with many pieces coming directly from the Villa in Siena. On entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by attentive staff and offered an aperitivo in the lounge or bar area. This leads onto the beautiful dining room that boasts a hand-blown lighting by Curiousa and Curiousa which perfectly reflects the colours of the family crest. Nibbles including olives and chilli coated peanuts are offered as guests admire their sumptuous surroundings, including exquisite artwork, ornate sofas and majestic, chesterfield- style chairs. They are then led into the opulent dining room, which has open views to the kitchen and leads to the Gallery which is used for private dining and adorned by beautiful art overlooking the main floor of the restaurant. The modern artwork across the walls adds a splash of colour to the tasteful décor. A pianist adds the final touch of class as they play melodic tunes in the background. For those dining from the A La Carte menu, Primi (starters) are a choice of rich, indulgent pastas or velvety risottos, including the sumptuous Wild Boar Ragu with well-seasoned wilted spinach with and the flavourful and rich Seafood Gnocchi. For Seconde (the main course) there is a glorious selection of dishes to suit every palate, including succulent Monkfish on a Bed of Samphire and Tomatoes with Celeriac Cream and Pesto Oil, rich and sumptuous Veal Cutlet Milanese and the decadent Baked Paglierino Cheese with Asparagus, Honey and Rosemary on a Brioche Bread. For Dolci (dessert) there is a selection of sweet dessert wine, including the slightly sparkling Moscato which is perfect for accompanying the restaurant’s and homemade sorbets and ice creams, which are the perfect palate cleanser following such a majestic repast. For those looking for something more substantial, Villa di Geggiano also offers a range of luscious treats including Traditional Homemade Tiramisù, Passion Fruit Bavarese with Dark Chocolate and Yogurt Ice Cream, or, for those with a yen for something savoury, a luscious selection of Tuscan cheeses.
