The best designers see the needs of our times and create art that is functional and stylish in equal measure. The success of ON Architecture, therefore, is best shown by its success in 2021’s Leading Designer Awards, where it has been named Best Sustainable Architecture Practice 2021 – Korea. We look more closely to see just how they did it. What is design, if not the building of better relationships? Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for people to come together and share a space has never been more prescient. Fortunately, this need lies at the heart of ON Architecture. The team at ON Architecture have embraced this approach wholeheartedly, exploring the alternatives that are available to build new business models in the architecture field. Dec20307 An AlternativeView This is shown by some of the designs that the team have developed. The Tower House, for example, is a way of building a property that is able to split into different wings while still retaining a connected feeling. As houses become more difficult to acquire, it’s easy to see the value in a building that allows people from the same family, but of different ages, to live in the same place while retaining a sense of independence. It is certainly an experimental property, but one which embraces the possibilities of coexistence within the different age groups. A similarly familial approach can be seen in H-House. This innovative design combines the benefits of houses and apartments into an elegant solution that encourages communal living. It creates a yard and outdoor space not just for people to be in, but to interact with. The end result is a truly impressive approach to design that will result in a great deal of happiness for years to come. The success of ON Architecture is thanks to their approach, one which looks at people and the way they will be able to use a space.
