Jun22596 24 | LUXlife Magazine Best Luxury Embroidered Fashion Accessories Brand 2025 – Switzerland & Heritage Textile Craftsmanship Excellence Award 2025 Derived from the namesake of the city of St Gallen (the monk "St Gallus" c550-620/640) and the legend of his encounter with the powerful bear, Gallus Bear GmbH aims to breathe new life into St Gallen embroidery. The startup, inspired by a visit to the St Gallen Textile Museum in July 2020, committed itself to the idea of combining St Gallen embroidery with luxurious fashion accessories in 2021. We find out more from the Founder, Paddy Gloor, following his success in the Style and Apparel Awards 2025. St. Gallen embroidery (or Swiss embroidery) to those who don’t know, is a world-renowned, high-quality Swiss textile art produced in the St. Gallen region since the 18th century, transitioning from handwork to machinedriven, intricate designs in the 19th century. Known for its delicate floral and geometric patterns, often in broderie anglaise or chemical lace, it is used in luxury fashion, Haute Couture, and by royalty. With swathes of fabric under his arm, an idea in his head, and a dream in his heart, Paddy Gloor visited a few professionals in the fashion industry to garner a response to his proposal. Receiving positive feedback, he set about producing the first few prototypes - combining exquisite fashion accessories with St. Gallen embroidery. The result is one that exudes exclusivity and elegance. The range of embroidered ties, bow ties, and pocket squares lend an outfit individuality and that special something that can’t be found on the mainstream market, which is infiltrated with symmetrical, simple and identical “boring” patterns. Trained typographer and screen communicator, Paddy was the son of a trained seamstress who worked as a pattern maker at renowned textile companies in St. Gallen, most recently at AKRIS, and a trained textile merchant who worked at traditional companies such as Huber-Lehner AG, Jakob Rohner AG, TISCA Tischhauser & Co. AG and Bischoff Textil AG, Paddy Gloor grew up in Teufen. Thus, his roots pointed to an earlier entry into the textile industry. After a visit to the textile museum in St. Gallen, Paddy Gloor was so extremely fascinated by the fusion of St. Gallen's traditional craftsmanship and men's fashion accessories that he even had Gallus Bear Gmbh
