LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 57 Summer 2018 Ben started off the discussion by describing what qualities he believes contributes to the success of a designer and a design firm, citing the longevity of designs as crucial to a successful project. “For me, excellent design comes from creating timeless interiors that remain popular for a long time, mixing finishes, textures, moods and fabrics in unique ways and stepping outside of your comfort zone creating a personality in your interiors. I think designing a space about eight years ago, and it still being stylish today makes you a great designer.” Part of creating unique designs which exceed client expectations, is gaining a true understanding of the client’s requirements and what image they have in their mind. Sam mentioned what methods the team utilises when undertaking a new client in order to ensure the best possible outcome. “When I first meet a new client, or get a new brief, I tend to get very excited as I start visualising the spaces and think of all the different products we could use. It is the design process. Also, I collect my ideas and my client’s ideas in order to develop a concept that accurately reflects the clients personal taste and lifestyle.” Setting the company apart from its competitors within the industry, is the long-term relationships that the team is able to build with clients and partners. Ben explained that communication is key, both with clients and amongst the team. “Essentially, I think communication in design is paramount to the success of each project and this is reflected in the projects that I undertake. I develop my clients interests into the design and by this I interpret their concepts and bring them to life. Myself and the team work very closely with the client driving the design.” Working alongside the client from inception of the project to the conclusion and paying the utmost attention to detail is a key aspect of Cox Jones Interiors’ achievements. Outlining the overall aims of the firm, Sam highlights the fact that the team places a key emphasis on overseeing the whole design process, before commenting on how the team ensures that it creates innovative solutions to maintain its success as a designer. “The main focus of our practice is to always produce the highest standard of design, a seamless luxury finish and intricate details in our design and oversee the complete installation managing contracts and budgets allows our projects to be a success. “I think with every project I learn something new. Personally, I believe communication between a client and the designer and understanding the brief is an important part of a successful designer, but staying competitive with the current market and travelling to trade shows world-wide will make sure your product database is refreshed and original.” Boasting an impressive track record, Cox Jones Interiors has completed a wealth of successful projects. Sam referred us to the projects that the team enjoy working on the most, and what staff believe to have been most successful. “Having taken on an assortment of projects, I like working on complete new builds for private clients where we design every room and every bespoke detail. We have just finished a project in Birmingham working for a world-renowned DJ Steve Lawler! Every detail has been carefully processed and tailored for him and his beautiful family. It is definitely one of my favourites.” Looking ahead, Ben excitedly commented on the upcoming projects which staff have undertaken, including one overseas which will only enhance the already sterling reputation of the team at Cox Jones Interiors. “Ultimately, I am very proud of the interiors we are developing, and we will continue to build our portfolio and our brand further. We will be working on an overseas project in the South of France later in the summer which we cannot wait for.
