Summer 2018

The team at Bricolage recognize design as a research process learning about each client, their identity, history, and context, as Leslie explains. so that they can deliver a solution that reflects the essence of each client and brand they work with, while also refining and enhancing their unique stories with a sophisticated clarity. “Here at Bricolage, we endeavor to custom tailor each project to our client by identifying and meticulously unfolding each layer of the project’s challenges and aspirations. We take the time to understand our client’s lifestyle or the socioeconomic and cultural background of our client’s target market. Every individual and every project is unique, so understanding what someone wants - and exceeding that expectation with something that will also delight – is crucial to our approach. We take the time to get to know our clients so that our recommendations are custom-tailored to suit them and keep open communication throughout the entire process as we write their stories.” Bricolage is diligently shaping a language for the next generation, a market that demands a whole new vocabulary in all aspects of design. “We design ‘experience.’ Designing a unique experience requires cognitive science, geometries, finishes, lighting, art, landscape and curation. Creating for the whole experience is the only way to truly custom tailor each project. We work with an extensive network of designers, engineers, and artists to create unique experiences. We believe it is time for a revolution in design for a new generation. Clients are hungry for different experience, and that spans both their expectations of the project itself and the ways in which we communicate and execute on our promises.” Helping the firm to fulfill the client’s expectations, is the devoted team of talented individuals at Bricolage. Leslie goes into detail about how the team is all aware of the firm’s aims and goals for the company. “Everyone is involved in the initial research and brainstorm sessions. We discuss the context for each project and collectively navigate through the different angles to find the core concept and the angle of our focus. We have architects, interior designers, product designers, lighting engineers, and artists who all bring different system reads of current trends and the contexts of the project to the table. This is the only way we can design truly custom tailored experience for each project. Once we start the design and production phase, we have a clear understanding of each person’s role in the project, but each project always starts with group discussions and brainstorm sessions.” The team’s extensive experience in architecture, construction, project management, and art allows Bricolage to be bold in design, thoughtful in execution, professional in delivery, and exquisite in curation. Bricolage is poised to be the author of the next revolution in experiential design. Looking ahead at what the future holds, Leslie is keen to highlight the upcoming developments that lie ahead for Bricolage, noting on how they are adapting to the broad spectrum of clients whom they work with. “As the millennials taking the majority of spending power, the multi-family housing and mixed-used developments will have to meet their demands that are different from any other previous generations in all aspects of life, work, and play. They live in the dichotomy between high-tech life and longing for nature and sustainability. They also live with two conflicting desires to connect and disconnect from others, a shared economy with privacy intact. We also have a very different aging population. The generation with the largest population suffering frommental degeneration, but with physical longevity. The generation that led major cultural revolutions in our global society is aging. Their needs are very different from the previous generation of World Wars. The solutions to meet these two spectrum ends of the radically different target market cannot be one dimensional or cosmetic. It requires dismantling the preconceived formulae and re-think all the details. For us, that’s exactly what is meant by Bricolage: transforming the everyday into the innovative.” Intelligent Luxury Style Bricolage describes a person able to transform everyday objects and materials into innovative inventions.
