www.lux-review.com Page 41 In the heart of Snowdonia, Taldraeth is one of Wales’s most special places for guests to stay, showcasing the very best in Welsh hospitality as well as offering great stunning views and sumptuous food such as a welcoming afternoon tea with homemade cakes. The establishment is a family business run by Mirain and Geraint with their two daughters - Anest, 6-year-old and Alis, who is 3-years- old. Their first language is Welsh, and guests often love to hear this old language spoken naturally. Mirain is originally from a farm on the outskirts of the village, a short distance from Taldraeth, and therefore she has a strong local knowledge which she is always happy to share with her guests. Both Mirain and husband Geraint are passionate about the Welsh language, it’s heritage and culture and this can be seen in the unique decor with Welsh antiques dated back to the 17th Century. To ensure every guest enjoys the best possible stay, the couple welcome guests personally, inviting them to stay at their lovingly restored, unique Welsh Guest House B&B. This is quality accommodation that offers a real Welsh welcome that guests will not have seen before but will be keen to return to time and again. Taldraeth is a welcoming guesthouse in the centre of Snowdonia, located in the old vicarage in Penrhyndeudraeth, set in its own grounds, with extensive views out across the Dwyryd Estuary and the Ardudwy mountain range. As part of our overview of a selection of the winners from this year’s Travel & Tourism Awards we profile the establishment to learn more about the warm welcome guests can expect when they come to visit. Taldraeth Best B&B 2019 – UK & Customer Service Excellence Award - UK Converted from a Victorian rectory, which had strong connection with the nearby slate quarry industry, the establishment’s two en- suite rooms have been individually designed with comfort in mind and feature those thoughtful little touches which make it a true home away from home. Both bedrooms are furnished with beautiful antique furniture, paintings of local scenery and have been designed with Welsh textiles such as Laura Ashley fabric and Welsh tapestry blankets. The Welsh Organic wool duvets and pillows are made locally at Harlech by Baavet. The luxurious mattresses are also produced from Welsh organic wool by Abaca Ltd in Ammanford, South Wales. The rooms are painted with eco-friendly Earthborne clay paint to preserve the original lime plaster walls. Many hours were spent stripping all wood work back to its original Canadian or American pine / pitch pine and protected with eco-friendly osmo oil. Both the en-suite bathrooms include a power shower, hand held shower, good lighting, mirrors, and shaver socket. Guests will be offered the fantastic ‘Sea Breeze’ toiletries from ‘Myddfai’, a social enterprise located in Llangadog, Carmarthenshire. Seeking to start every guest’s day right, Taldraeth offers a full Welsh breakfast which is cooked from the Aga that includes fried local free-range eggs, bacon, local sausages, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, laver bread circles and cockles. The full vegetarian breakfast includes homemade Glamorgan sausages. There are also many more options such as cheese and mushroom soufflé omelette and Welsh rarebit. As a result of this focus on quality and client service, Taldraeth is now a haven for a variety of guests around the world. From couples seeking a romantic escape to individuals ranging from businessmen all the way through to adventure seekers, the guesthouse can accommodate all and provide an exceptional experience that they will remember for all the right reasons. Overall, the future looks bright for Taldraeth, as Mirain and Geraint seek to enhance their current success by expanding their accommodation to welcome even more guests, as well as launching an exciting new venture, which will see the couple sell a selection of homemade preserves so that guests can take a piece of Welsh paradise away with them. “To ensure every guest enjoys the best possible stay, the couple welcome guests personally, inviting them to stay at their lovingly restored, unique Welsh Guest House B&B.” Company: Taldraeth Name: Mirain Gwyn Address: Taldraeth, Old Vicarage Guest House, Penrhyndeudraeth, Snowdonia, North Wales LL48 6LG Telephone Number: 01766 770 892 Web Address: www.taldraeth.com
