Every session is designed to teach participants knowledge and skills for great photography, regardless of location, time, or object. Todd expands on how staff at Southwest Photo School teach students. “Our staff is a collection of fun-loving, hardworking individuals with diverse specialties. We have instructors with expertise in landscape, nature, portraiture, and design. Each can give a different personality and unique perspective to photography. We believe photography education should be fun as well as informative. Our staff share this philosophy and do everything in their power to ensure you have an amazing workshop experience.” Long gone are boring educational experiences. Students of photography want adventure, and a memorable experience. Todd’s photography sessions offer an abundance of both, with rugged and remote locations requiring hikes or 4WD vehicles to reach them. Despite the adventure however, Todd is keen to stress the role of the photographer in protecting the environment as we close out the interview. “With the explosion of social media, and the advancement of technology, there are more people taking photos than ever before. For us, education is of the utmost importance. Knowing the latest technology is great, but to us the most important thing is to make people aware of how they impact on the environments they’re shooting in. There are plenty of ways to get great shots while respecting the area you’re in. This will be one of our greatest focuses going forward.” Photography has the power to inspire and empower people; showcasing those rare moments in the world around us where everything seemingly stops for a moment and we can bask in the beauty of this wonderful planet.
