LUX Winter 2018
LUX - Winter 2018 25 Creating Change Creating Change Established in 1995, Changes offers designs for interior spaces. Working with clients on a variety of products, the firm provides design insight on areas including colour consultation, space planning, window treatments, furniture, and flooring selections, as well as full kitchen and bath remodels, with the team possessing the ability to accommodate all these dreams for clients. Michelle talks to us about the firm’s approach to new projects and clients, detailing what procedures are in place which enable the team to meet the desired outcome for the client. “During the initial consultation with our customer, we listen to their vision and work to understand exactly what they require. We design for them and help to facilitate the end result, guiding them along every step of the way. In every aspect of our work, we take our job very seriously as we understand how personal these decisions can be to our clients, and we strive to give them the best service, patience and results they are expecting.” In an ever increasing technological generation, the company encourages clients to look on the internet alongside the team, providing them with an opportunity to see the overwhelming selection of items available. Regarding the design industry currently, Michelle believes that there are new trends and developments arising rapidly, and the company must continue to adapt to these advances. “Changes is moving and adapting along with the times. Online shopping takes a lot of the heavy lifting out of looking for the right piece of furniture, accessory and lighting. We are partnered with all the major online companies, including Wayfair, Hayneedle, Josh and Main and so many others, enabling us to shop quickly and efficiently. “Interestingly, the rise and increased use of Houzz and Pinterest have been great tools in allowing clients to imagine their dream, as well as allowing us to interpret, communicate and most of all, show all visual concepts. These two major sites have been a major benefit to both us and most of our clients, reducing the need for us to buy countless magazines to find the perfect picture. They allow us to make a notebook and share pictures back and forth so nothing is lost in translation.” Being the successful owner of Changes, Michelle acknowledges that her and her company would not be in such a strong position were it not for her clients and partners. Meeting new people and aiding them to reach their targets and goals, having fun along the way is something Michelle clearly enjoys, and is good for the company and the times ahead. “Importantly, I could not achieve the end goal without the help of my superior trades. It is always my pleasure to meet new people fulfil their dreams and in the end become friends for a life time.” Looking to build on its ongoing success, Michelle hints at expansion within the company. Recruiting and hiring more internal staff will see Changes further establish itself as a leading design firm within the sector. Continuing to satisfy and usually exceed client expectations is a major goal of the team at Changes, as Michelle explains. “Moving forward, the ultimate goal for our company is to employ a full-time assistant, a junior designer, permanent handyman, house cleaner and of course be able to maintain our excellence in what we do. “Ultimately, however, my number one objective is to create a home that is a reflection of my clients, rather than myself and making sure the environment is aesthetically pleasing, professional, sophisticated, warm and welcoming. I pride myself on not repeating my design work, being original and making every house unique to the homeowner. Crucial to my personal success, I do not follow trends but aim to adopt a modern style, keeping it true to the client. Not only do I enjoy what I do, but design is a passion that I was born with. Every job I undertake is a labour of love and I am committed right to the end of the project.” Changes Interior Design is a full-service design company, working primarily with residential clients and providing solutions regarding office spaces, lobbies and reception areas for small businesses.
