LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 73 Winter 2019 patio area to enjoy. All the rooms are rich in character yet full of modern convenience, enjoying glorious uninterrupted views of the Wiltshire countryside. Dining is a big part of the enjoyment in staying at Bishopstrow. The Mulberry is the main event and is a standout restaurant in wider area of Wiltshire with two AA Rosettes to its name. Sitting in a beautifully extended part of the hotel, where Bath stone has been enhanced with glass and aluminium, the restaurant enjoys floor to ceiling windows and relaxed dining options extending across its own alfresco terrace and conservatory. During our stay, we enjoyed a delicious three-course meal from the mouth-watering Summer A La Carte menu. Starting with Crab and Mango Tortellini accompanied with sweetcorn, red onion and crab bisque, the Trio of Seafood with saffron fondant and fennel broth for the main and a Rich Chocolate and Baileys Pot for desert. We also got to enjoy some of the more informal options across the Bar and All-Day Dining Menu and nothing disappointed. Across all menus, there is a range of contemporary and creative dishes and obvious attention has been made to locally sourced ingredients and seasonally relevant dishes. The excellent food is supported by a knowledgeable and intuitive service, a relaxed atmosphere and a well-chosen wine list. There are also private dining options which accommodate anywhere from two to seventy guests The bar sits in the heart of the main house and guests are spoilt for choice with the lounge, library, terrace and conservatory offering relaxed spaces to enjoy a drink. There’s a clear passion for gin with an extensive menu and regularly occurring gin-based events taking place at the hotel. Guests can enjoy allday dining and afternoon tea anywhere in the hotel and whether you choose to get cosy in the lounge or soak up the sun on the terrace, you’re sure to find the perfect spot. There is an extensive range of spa and wellness facilities on offer at Bishopstrow and the Halcyon Spa, a four Bubbleawarded spa has been designed with rest, relaxation and rejuvenation in mind. Facilities include heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, whirlpool, thermal suite (sauna, steam room, experience showers), gym with personal training, daily exercise/ yoga/pilates classes and four treatment rooms (including a couple’s room), offering a wide range of spa treatments. A full spa day includes a complimentary drink on arrival, robe slippers and towel, full use of spa facilities, gym & gardens, a delicious two course lunch in the mulberry restaurant and an 85-minute Halcyon Signature Treatment. The setting is immaculate, and the twentyseven-acres provides ample opportunity to explore, we really did wish that we had our dog in tow to discover the grounds with us. There is a pile of wellies lined up just waiting for eager guests to take them out! Another lovely touch from the staff and great for those looking to explore the rotunda temple, summer house, tennis courts and Bishopstrow’s very own private access to the Wylye River. This is a hotel that yearns to be a home from home for its welcome guests. The whole family is welcome, even the dog! Yet it’s still more than suitable for a quiet couple’s retreat. The staff are wholly accommodating and keen to ensure your stay is memorable. We can’t recommend Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa enough, go and experience it for yourselves.
