Winter 2020
LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 7 Winter 2020 hard work and determination, there is so much that can be achieved, and Girl Meets Brush is a living testament to that fact. Back in 2015, Girl Meets Brush began life as a new form of make-up brush for artists and everyday women, with a signature product including an essential, multi-purpose brush set comprised of twelve brushes that are also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. From there, the business then grew as a platform for aspiring make-up artists, providing them with support as well as numerous opportunities to promote their work and careers as make-up artists. That facet of the Girl Meets Brush business has continued to grow, and since 2018 the focus has been on growing the Online Make-Up Academy & Community alongside the product range that Lynne initially designed. As a result, the business has grown from a MUAs to a community that is more than three thousand people strong. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest factors in that growth has been Lynne herself, and the work she has put into Girl Meets Brush. Lynne has carved a very successful career, having built a nationwide team for bridal to fashion work across the United Kingdom and also worked on several high profile photo shoots that have received publication in the likes of Vogue. She has worked with the likes of Anna Friel, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sara Cox, Lauren Laverne, Alice Levine, Keith Lemon, Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, and the Great British Bake Off team to deliver some of the UK’s favourite people with their best looks. Using her fifteen years of experience, Lynne has created flexible training and opportunities to help aspiring make-up artists carve out their own success stories in what is an ever-growing industry. During the recent lockdown phase that happened in the United Kingdom, Lynne provided make-up artists with a base to be supported and encouraged throughout this period. One area which really took off was the Make-Up Challenges that spanned an eight week period in the early summer following the hit BBC show, Glow Up. The girls from the Academy & Community were given weekly challenges based on the episodes that were themed around creating themed make-up looks. Lynne has spoken about the outstanding nature of the work, where each week there was plenty of effort, energy, and talent on show for the world to see. The challenges also gave aspiring make-up artists the chance to expend their energy on a passion project, getting them through the tough times that lockdown has imposed. As the future begins to return to some semblance of normality for many people, including Lynne and the entire team at Girl Meets Brush, there are a number of exciting things heading the firm’s way. The growing success of the business and the size of the community of make- up artists means that more opportunities for product development and community engagement can take place, including taking part in a Digital Show for Fashion Week. Ultimately, Lynne has created far more than just an outstanding business or an exceptional product. She has created a community of fantastic individuals that have supported and encouraged one another through a tough time in the United Kingdom. She is a superb leader, a fantastic innovator, and fully deserving of all success that comes her way.
