46 GAF Design Studio is an Architectural and Interior Design studio which provides a full range of Architecture, Interior & Landscape Design projects. Recently, we profiled the firm and spoke to founder, Ahmed Gabr who provided us with a detailed insight into the innovative and create solutions they provide to their clients. Established in 2012, GAF Design Studio is an award winning architectural and interior design studio based in Cairo. Going into detail about the approach taken when working alongside a new client, Ahmed begins by explaining to us how GAF Design Studio achieves the best possible outcome. “I listen carefully to every word the client says. As I am about to create a very important part of their lives, a good designer listens to what their clients’ needs to ensure that their design delivers what they truly want and one which they are willing to spend their money on. “Good designers listen. I try to translate their words, their preferences, their interests into designs, so that they feel like it reflects them. In fact, this tactic helps me learn more, we can discover more from what really matters to others, rather than assuming that we know what is best for those who we design for.” On the topic of both good designs and designers, Ahmed is keen to highlight how observation is a key quality to stay ahead of the game. “It’s all about observation. What differ designers from other people is the fact that they take notice and make notes of things others overlook. A designer must be curious and first and foremost observant. You will not get far in design if you don’t have a love of art, but also a curiosity for the world around you. A designer loves to look beyond the surface of things, to explore both the minute detail and the big picture, then translating their discoveries into their designs.” At GAF Design Studio, the team creates homes, not houses. When discussing what sets them apart from their competitors within the industry, Ahmed informs us of how the firm have marked themselves as the best possible option for their clients. 1810LU20 “Here at GAF Design Studio, we keep in mind that it is not all about beautiful, luxurious designs. Which is why we take in each client’s character and preferences, absorb it all into our designs, and create a home customised only for them. We take into consideration their life, and manufactured a home that is convenient to them, a home that will feel like they belong to. Each house we created is quite different from the other, just like how every client we got is different from the other. We take our clients’ desire seriously.” Since their inception, GAF Design studio have received numerous accolades, recognising their dedication and creative designs. Recently, the firm were selected in LUXlife’s 2018 Leading Designers Awards where they were awarded the title Most Outstanding Range of Interior Design & Architecture Services – Egypt. Speaking of the success, Ahmed highlights what the win means for the firm, as well as revealing their most successful project to date. “I feel so honoured and blessed. It gives me great pleasure to know that my work is being appreciated and rewarded by such a prestigious award. This award means that we have established a new milestone in our journey. It is motivation for us to keep on doing what we are doing, to evolve and for us to aim to achieve even more success. “One of our most successful project is always the one we are working on; we never stop evolving with each new project. This strategy taught us to never settle, to keep on working on ourselves. Perfection is our destination.” Looking ahead to what the future holds for the firm, Ahmed signs off by informing us of the exciting projects which lie in the pipeline for GAF Design Studio. “Moving forward, we aspire to expand, to open new branches in many more countries. We aspire to get bigger project, because we do love challenges.
