Mother watching her baby in crib

Entering parenthood can be daunting, especially in our modern landscape. New parents are soon overwhelmed by the sheer volume of products on the market, each offering its own unique combination of features and specifications. Tweetycam is setting out to ease the strain on new and expecting parents, with a comprehensive baby monitor born from one mother’s own struggles in navigating an oversaturated market. We found out more from Karen Mitault, Founder and Creative Director, as the company is recognised in the Parent and Baby Awards 2025.

Tweetycam is an Australian-owned brand on a mission to make everyday parenting simpler, safer, and more connected. Striving to remove the common stresses that come with modern parenting, the company specialises in reliable, Wi-Fi-free monitoring systems that work straight out of the box – no downloads, no app juggling, and no headaches. This product is designed to serve parents, carers, and growing families seeking peace of mind without compromise to their privacy.

The company was founded in 2023 by Karen Mitault, a mother and former UI-designer who had struggled to make sense of the technological noise surrounding her newborn days. Overwhelmed by choice and frustrated by complexities, Karen decided to reengineer her own baby monitor with tailored specifications and high quality components. With loving support from both her husband and her brother, Karen quickly transformed an at-home side-hustle into a trusted name in parenting.

Tweetycam was designed to support Karen’s busy lifestyle, allowing her to juggle pets, tenants, full-time work, and side businesses. She built the product around her own needs as a parent, with features that include a long battery life, the ability to integrate more cameras as the family grows, a secure system that does not operate on Wi-Fi, and the technology that would allow parents to continue with their day whilst their baby sleeps.

This parent-first approach is reflected in every aspect of Tweetycam, from the way it designs its products to the way it interacts with clients. “TweetyCam isn’t a typical tech company; we are a team of parents who understand the vulnerability of those early days, and who show up with real support,” Karen explained. “Our philosophy is ‘real support for real families.’ That means fast replies, flexible policies, and actual, fast-acting human support when things go wrong.”

As parents, Tweetycam recognises that its clients require quick solutions to their problems, not lengthy processes and disjointed communications. The company offers consistent over-the-phone tech support and sends replacements before asking for returns. This has enabled Tweetycam to maintain a refund rate of under 3% and a 24% return customer rate, boasting a 4.9-star average across more than 1,000 reviews and winning the Product Review Award for Best Baby Monitor in 2024 and 2025.

This year, Tweetycam has been awarded the Customer Service Excellence Award 2025 in the Parent and Baby Awards, an accolade that would not have been made possible without its people. Tweetycam is driven by a small but mighty team, united in the shared belief that parents deserve better. When expanding the team, the company prioritises candidates who genuinely care, think on their feet, and treat every customer like family.

“We also look for self-starters,” Karen added. “People who are comfortable building as they go, since we are constantly evolving. Our onboarding includes not just the ‘how’ but the ‘why’, so that every decision we make as a team circles right back to the families we serve.”

An integral element of Tweetycam’s ongoing progression is monitoring the market for emerging trends and shifts, ensuring that the team can continue to address evolving needs. At present, the company is gearing up to launch a new model shaped entirely by what parents have been reported to desire in a baby monitor: easier setup, enhanced usability, and a way to boost the existing limitations of Bluetooth monitoring.

Alongside this, Tweetycam is looking beyond the shores of Australia. The company has noted rising interest from international customers and is now seeking to explore avenues to scale globally whilst keeping its renowned customer-first values intact – values that have earned Tweetycam the title of Australia’s Most Trusted Baby Monitor Brand 2025.

“In 2025, we’re investing in smarter operations,” Karen shared. “We’re building scalable systems and automating routine processes so our team can stay focused on hands-on care. We are also aiming to double our revenue, and with that grow our returning customer base and launch new products and accessories that bring more value to families. But at the heart of it all? We’re still the same. We aim to continue helping parents feel confident, calm, and supported.”
