Nature Squared have exhibited a series of new, sustainable and natural designs within the VIP suite at this year’s Independent Hotel Show
Nature Squared recently exhibited a series of new, sustainable and natural designs within the VIP suite at this year’s Independent Hotel Show in Olympia, which took place between the 15th and 16th October 2019.
Widely recognised as one of the industry’s leading events for the luxury hotel sector, the VIP suite features designs across the bars to table tops offering a calm haven and a chance for guests to immerse themselves in natural materials and exquisitely beautiful surfaces away from the busy show floor.
For the creation of the table tops, Nature Squared have utilised guinea fowl feathers and pheasant feathers – which were sourced from birds harvested for meat in Devon, England for charity food producer The Country Food Trust and hand plucked by specialist butcher, MC Kelly.
The feathers are carefully sorted, clean and dyed at Nature Squared’s factory in the Philippines, before Nature Squared’s master craftsmen and artisans meticulously transform the feathers into table tops – making sure that they retain their authentically sophisticated, yet mesmerising aesthetic.
The VIP suite bar front has been manufactured from dissipated mother of pearl shells, through an innovative and never-seen-before hand-texturing technique. The shells originate from pearl farms in the Pacific, where they were traditionally just discarded following the completion of an oyster’s productive life. Alroys, a sheet metal and fabrication business based in Hertfordshire, created the metal bases for the table tops – with their manufacturing expertise culminating in a beautiful, but durable final product.
Nature Squared have been at the cutting-edge of sustainability and social responsibility for the past 18 years. They are one of the most esteemed natural material specialists in the interiors sector; collaborating with a variety of luxury brands, as well as designers, that include the likes of Rolls Royce, BMW, MontBlanc, Bethan Gray and Victorinox.
For this year’s Independent Hotel Show Nature Squared collaborated with Two’s Company Interior Design Ltd to create the Independent Hotel Show’s VIP Suite; hosted by Samsung. Two’s Company Interior Design Ltd are an interior design company with exceptional, unparalleled credentials in the interiors industry – creating bespoke, luxury bedroom and bathrooms that emulate 6* and boutique hotels from around the world. The focus of the Two’s Company’s vision for the suite was sustainability, making Nature Squared the natural partner for designing the space.
From the striking entrance to the seating area, this suite is the epitome of luxury. With the gorgeous café style tables creating a comfortable haven from the hustle and bustle of the show, the acoustic wall panels soften sounds allowing relaxation and conversation to go uninterrupted. The contemporary classic Art Deco style and bold colours are evident in every zone, and moving from space to space, one can discover bespoke features that afford guests every possible luxury.
“It was an obvious choice approaching Nature Squared when we were asked to design the VIP suite. Sustainability and luxury don’t often go hand in hand, but with such beautiful natural materials as theirs we have admired the luxury finishes they create for some time.
“With an initial bar front concept in mind, then extending the idea across all tables in the suite we were overwhelmed by the support, speed and efficiency the company provided us. Able to transform guinea fowl and pheasant feathers into unique colours to complement our scheme enabled us to create and enhance our design beyond our expectations. Each piece created has its own story and built on the whole ethos of sustainability both Nature Squared and Two’s Company adhere to.”– Nick Sunderland, Director of Two’s Company.
