LUXlife were delighted to experience the exclusive Summer Glow Spa Break: a restorative journey designed to relax the body, revive the senses and leave skin glowing for the season ahead. This review captures the highlights of our memorable stay, from the spa and hotel facilities to the exceptional treatments and peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful countryside haven.

The Spa
The Day Spa at Whittlebury Park features an extensive thermal suite, a 19-metre swimming pool and 23 dedicated treatment rooms. Included in our package, the Heat & Ice Experience uses contrasting temperatures to awaken the senses, invigorate the body and promote detoxification, while leaving the skin feeling smooth and revitalised.
The thermal suite includes:
- Aromatherapy Crystal Steam
- Caldarium and Sanarium
- Experience Showers and Foot Spas
- Ice Cave
- Salt Steam Rooms
- Traditional and Salt Sauna
- Hydrotherapy Pool
During our visit, we had the opportunity to experience the spa’s extensive facilities and completely unwind. A particular highlight was the hydrotherapy pool, which features a variety of soothing water elements, including bubbles, fountains and powerful massage jets. Guests can choose between tranquil, still waters for quiet conversation, gentle bubbles for a calming experience, or targeted jets designed to ease tension and soothe tired muscles.
I particularly enjoyed the salt steam room, which offered respiratory relief alongside a range of benefits for the skin and body. Its gentle warmth created a deeply calming environment where I could sit comfortably and unwind for longer. While I also enjoy the sauna and appreciate its restorative effects, I find the intense heat more difficult to tolerate for extended periods.
As a lover of the warmth, the Ice Cave ended up being a surprising favourite! The initial shock of the cold gives an endorphin rush and instantly cools you down and eases stress. The ice cave included an unlimited supply of crushed ice as well ice-cold showers. I would highly recommend visiting the Ice Cave after completing the heated elements of the spa journey.
The package also included access to the Leisure Club, which we had the opportunity to enjoy throughout our stay. The Leisure Club offers first class gym facilities and a wide variety of classes including Spin, Zumba, Pilate and aquagym sessions. The Leisure Club is home to the main 19-metre swimming pool, alongside a selection of saunas and bubbling hot tubs. I enjoyed a peaceful, refreshing swim before ending the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub and unwinding in the warmth of the sauna.

The Treatment
Included in the Summer Glow Spa Break is a 50-minute Summer Radiance Ritual Treatment. This treatment gets the skin ‘summer ready’ with a stimulating dry body brushing to awaken circulation and slough away dry, dull skin. The ritual then continues with a radiance-boosting facial to restore glow and vitality, complemented by a deeply relaxing scalp massage to release tension and enhance total body rejuvenation.
The treatment was undoubtedly the highlight of the entire experience. The expert therapists were both knowledgeable and welcoming, taking care to ensure that every relaxation need was met. Whether you prefer to unwind in silence while enjoying the soothing music or chat throughout your treatment, the therapists are happy to tailor the experience to your personal preferences.
During the treatment, I felt more comfortable and relaxed than I had in a long time. My therapist checked that I was comfortable at every stage, which helped me completely switch off. I chose to enjoy the treatment in silence, taking in the calming music and beautiful aromas of the products. Before the dry brushing started my therapist explained to me how this would feel and talked me through the benefits, I was surprised by how warm, gentle and completely pain-free it was. This was then followed by a radiance-boosting facial which restored vitality and left my skin beautifully glowing. My favourite part of the treatment was the scalp massage. The slow movements and perfect amount of pressure felt heavenly, I almost fell asleep and at the end my therapist noted how relaxed I looked! The end of the treatment concluded by my therapist explaining what products she used and how these would benefit me which I appreciated and found very useful.
From facial treatments to massages, manicures, and more, Whittlebury Spa offers a vast range of treatments suited to your own needs.

The Room
As part of the package, an overnight stay in the Classic double room was included, however to our surprise, once we entered the room, we noticed that we had very kindly been upgraded to a Club Double room. We felt extremely welcomed and honoured as we were treated to luxurious bathroom amenities, bathrobe and slippers, wine and water, tasty treats in the room, and a daily turn down service if requested.
The room featured an incredibly comfortable king-size bed and a spacious en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. The hotel was wonderfully quiet in the evening, and we enjoyed an amazing, uninterrupted night’s sleep. Another welcome feature of the upgraded room was the large freestanding mirror, which was perfect for getting ready and checking our outfits before heading out. The Club Double also included air conditioning, an absolute essential during the high temperatures we have experienced this summer. The room and ensuite feature modern but cottagecore decor, the elegant design and restful furnishings created a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
The room, ensuite, the spa facilities and the treatment rooms were all immaculate, we could not fault a thing.
Dining at Whittlebury Hotel
The Summer Glow Spa Break package included several fantastic dining experiences such as the two course buffet lunch, cream tea, and a three-course dinner at the intimate Aston’s Restaurant.
After our wonderfully relaxing treatment, we headed off to the Terrace Café to enjoy a delicious two-course buffet lunch. As we were absolutely starving, we took the opportunity to sample almost everything the buffet had to offer. We enjoyed the different range of food provided and tucked into the warm noodles, potatoes and fish to cold salads, olives, sushi, focaccia bread and more, before we shared and enjoyed the delicious cakes and fruits the café had to offer. We were very impressed by the range of options available. As the Terrace Café is located next to the main pool, we were able to sit poolside with refreshing drinks from the bar and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
In the evening, we headed to Aston’s Restaurant for our three-course dinner. The restaurant is relaxed and intimate, with the same classic yet modern cottagecore inspired décor, and the staff are professional whilst also incredibly friendly, warm and attentive. We opted for the carrot soup as our stater and really enjoyed the addition of the almonds which gave a nice crunchy texture. For mains we had the tender slow cooked beef, with mash and roasted vegetables. We opted for the lemon tart and a sour apple cake as our desserts. The food was to an incredibly high standard, and the wine list was exceptional, we opted for and enjoyed an exquisite bottle of Chateuneuf!
Before departing in the morning, we were also treated to a hot and cold buffet breakfast. Aston’s Restaurant offers a large variety of breakfast options from pastries, fruit and cereal to a warm full English breakfast of your choice. We enjoyed an amazing hot breakfast, including scrambled eggs, bacon, tatertots, mushrooms, beans and plenty more, and were really impressed how fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection the breakfast was.
