Our dogs are part of the family, so a getaway without them just wouldn’t be the same. This National Dog Day (26th August 2025), why not treat yourself and your four-legged friend to a luxurious escape? The Audience has rounded up the top three pet-friendly spots across England for the ultimate getaway with your best furry companion this August.
Leeds Castle, Kent

Blending its rich history, natural beauty and summer blooms, Leeds Castle makes for a special stay for couples, families and groups. Leeds Castle’s luxury historic holiday cottages are located across its stunning 500-acre estate, surrounded by wonderful woodland scenery. Weir Cottage, Battel Cottage and Keeper’s House are all pet friendly, so the whole family can come along, making it the perfect base for a Kentish escape. The properties offer all the necessities for a self-catering stay as well as magnificent views across the countryside.
Dogs are not permitted on the Leeds Castle estate due to the presence of wildfowl, but there are several scenic walking routes nearby that welcome dogs. Guests staying in Battel Cottage can access the walking routes directly, and for guests in Weir Cottage and Keeper’s House, the walking routes are a short drive. This includes the Leeds Castle and Kingswood Circular Walk, an 8 km circular which takes around 2 hours to complete. This route is open year-round and is popular among birdwatchers, hikers, and runners. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
Stays at Leeds Castle’s dog friendly cottages start from £640 for two-nights plus a £25 fee per dog, one dog allowed per cottage. For more information and to book, please visit: https://leeds-castle.com/stay/
