Thank you for this honor which lends credibility to a claim I make with pride. Since young I had demonstrated a certain talent that continued through high school and college. But I did not yet call myself this “thing”. Not until working under a master in Milwaukee when members of a paying and discriminating clientele, moved by my work, embraced me saying I was this “thing” did I begin to wear this label, pinned to me by others; I am Dennis Hilke, Artist.
