In 1997 Mark Andrus developed some innovative new snacks and founded Stacy’s Pita Chip Co. After his surprising success, he decided to give back by offering free consultation to new food start-ups. However, in 2018 he noted there was room for innovation within the salty snacks category again, especially with respect to the growing interest in healthy ancient grains. He focused on sorghum as the base grain for his new products, as it is grown in the US and is particularly eco-friendly. After extensive research and development he introduced Pop Bitties Ancient Grain Chips in 2020.
