Best Historic Self-Catering Accommodation – West Yorkshire
Situated high on the Pennine Way, on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, Ponden Hall is a (mostly) Jacobean manor house most famous for inspiring the interior of Wuthering Heights in Emily Brontë’s famous novel. In a room at the top of the house is the famous window said to have been the inspiration for the story of Cathy’s ghost banging relentlessly, desiring to come in. That window now has a modern recreation of the box bed built around it, and is one of three rooms where guests can stay – now with all modern comforts.
