With clients coming from all over Texas, from Huntsville to Houston, from Dallas to Austin, there’s clearly something that The Facemaker is doing that can’t be matched on a local level. Here at LUXlife, we decided to discover what that was. The Facemaker Salon: Best Full-Service Salon of the Year 2019 - Texas & Best Hair & Beauty Salon Manager - Texas: Debra Martinez Since opening in 1977, The Facemaker Salon and Spa has grown to be something truly extraordinary. Not just offering customers everything from children’s cuts to a day’s pampering, there’s something for everyone at this unique locale. There are plenty of salons on offer in Texas, but very few are full-service spas. Still under the ownership of Bert Lyle, the same as it was when the salon opened its doors, The Facemaker has undergone plenty of changes during its lifetime. Originally a remodeled old house to allow Owner Bert Lyle to cut hair at the front and live at the back, two moves led to the current home of The Facemaker. Once a theatre, it is now home to 27 full-time co-workers, and a Spa. All that is left of the old theatre are the walls and the support beams. Led by Owner Bert Lyle and Manager Debra Martinez, the team at The Facemaker invite their customers into a life of luxury. From hilites and balayage, to micro blading and eyelash extensions, with make-up artistry, facials and massages, we can give the gift of relaxation and beauty like no one else. The overall mission is always to make customers look and feel their best. This applies across the business, and stylists, massage therapists and make-up artists are continually educating themselves on the ever-changing latest developments and innovations within the industry. The arrival of Debra has proven to be a boon for the business who, as Managing Partner with Bert, acts as day-to-day manager. Since coming to The Facemaker in 2008, she uses Redken color, does perms and all highlighting techniques, along with color correction upon consultation. Excelling with women’s, men’s and children’s cuts and styles, it’s no surprise that she was able to put her considerable knowledge and determination towards the running of the Facemaker. Debra has been instrumental in making sure that co-workers understand the idea behind the client is always right and has instilled a mindset that is naturally sacrificial. It is this attitude that has helped the Facemaker grow and gain new clients. With its success evident, The Facemaker has a lot of acquired knowledge to pass down. This isn’t just in the training of new stylists for this superb establishment, but in the realms of managerial theology. This might have an impact outside of the salon world in other industries. Working with the motto ‘treat others the same way you would like to be treated’ has put The Facemaker at the forefront of the salon market, ensuring that it continually aims to be the best. For 42 years, The Facemaker has been a mainstay of the Huntsville salon scene. In that time, it has been transformed from a humble barber to a Full-Service Salon and Spa, with nearly 30 co-workers on its books. Such a transformation doesn’t come without giving clients something special, and what The Facemaker gives is very special indeed.
