To start, Tiffany gives us a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its clientele. “Having first opened in 1972 as part of Kodak Sports Facilities, Odyssey Health Club has a long history in the health and wellness area. With fitness equipment and a swimming pool complimented by a range of spa treatments, members have everything they need. Typically, members visit the spa every two to four weeks and we also have spa day and clinic guests.” In the Hertfordshire region, there are a number of competitors offering similar services to the Odyssey Spa, however as Tiffany goes on to explain it has a unique range of packages to offer its clients. “The GoSpa package is arguably our most unique selling point. If you spend £45 on treatments, we will complimentarily upgrade you. The package includes full use of The Odyssey Health Club, with studio classes, tennis courts, pool, sauna & steam room, Relaxation Suite, tea & coffee, robes, towels & slippers all available to use during your visit. The feedback from members and guests has been extremely positive with many saying the quality of our treatments is the reason they continue to choose us.” Regarding recruitment the firm have an open mind when it comes to hiring new talent. Rather than just focusing on experience, it is keen to give people who have a willingness to learn an opportunity as Tiffany explains further. “A natural customer service focus is evident through our informal interview process. Typically, we look for people who will fit in with our hands-on approach to running an independent Spa and Health Club to the standards we expect. Training wise, we Part of Odyssey Health Club, The Odyssey Spa is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Following its well-deserved success in the Resorts & Retreats Awards 2020, we caught up with Tiffany Harding-Aucott to find out more The Odyssey Spa Day Spa of the Year 2020 - Hertfordshire focus on treatment protocols and product knowledge. Generally, we inspect what we expect, which means we use the facilities as a client and pick up on the detailed items that are always overlooked on a walk-round. “With a very flat management structure, Senior staff members must understand operations first and foremost. Whilst managing the team, we will be there to support frontline staff and help them deliver the services our guests expect0” Despite the outbreak of COVID-19 causing disruption to many other industries, the firm has been able to prosper in recent times as Tiffany points out. “With reference to COVID-19, we experienced a very stop- start with facials being allowed and then not allowed. Once we were given the green light, we focused on communicating our new protocols and building as much confidence with our client base. Since re-opening we have experienced a very busy period and have recruited more therapists onto the team to fulfil the demand.” Finally, Tiffany comments on the firm’s future plans as we look ahead to 2021 and beyond. “On the 16th March 2020, we started a new expansion but then had to close on the 20th March due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Early in the new year we will be looking to restart the project which will give the spa a beautiful new dining room, ELEMIS shop and large reception. Additionally, we will also be building a new pedicure area within the spa and expanding our outdoor spa terrace in size and to include an outdoor tropical shower area.” Company: The Odyssey Spa Contact: Tiffany Harding-Aucott Web: www.odysseyspa.com
