We invited Associate Immanuel Gaskin to talk us through the firm, which has been awarded Best Full-Service Architectural & Interior Design Firm – UK in our renowned 2018 Leading Designers Awards. Specialising in residential projects, Ernest Tsui Architects + Partners supports a range of clients, including domestic home owners to overseas investors. The firm operates a collaborative approach to ensure that every project meets the exact requirements of the client, as Immanuel is eager to emphasise. “Here at Ernest Tsui Architects + Partners, we draw not only on our core team of dynamic and innovative studio based professional designers, but we also thrive on developing all projects through collaboration with the clients, consultants and contractors. Our client base and collaborative spirit allow us to have a global reach that benefits from a healthy domestic foundation. “As such, we are committed to designing with a personal touch. Attention to the detail is paramount, and we explore not only architectural details, but also elements of the clients’ lifestyle so that we can create something they will treasure for many years to come. In the architecture of ETA + Partners, the process of innovation is evident in our final product. The ability to communicate, have access to resources and to be truly mobile, creates the perfect environment to successfully deliver a full range of professional architectural services and completed, bespoke solutions for the client.” Over recent years the firm has undertaken a number of exciting projects, and one that Immanuel is keen to highlight is the Avenue, a residential extension which provided the firm with many great opportunities to take advantage of and challenges to overcome. Among our recent, successful projects is the Avenue, a conversion and extension of a large four bedroom house into a six bedroom home to cater 1804LU08 for three generations of a family. Although the house was large, it was dated, was not fit for purpose and certainly not for the socio-economic malaise of the modern family. Families are no longer nuclear, but are now extended. This means the extended family is now its own ‘eco system’. Grandparents providing childcare and the children and working adults keeping an eye on, and are caring for their elders. “To facilitate this, we created independent ground floor living accommodation for the grandparents in a side extension. Then we provided a loft conversion, with a wet room, to provide luxurious sanctuary for the hardworking breadwinning adults. All this whilst, the existing bedrooms, supplemented with a new modern bathroom, becomes ideal for the children and visiting family. But the key to unlocking this gem of a situation was the creation of the large, well lit, family room with the kid’s play area as an apex between the grandparent annex and the family’s principle space. This allowed for not only a strong visual link for the generations but a spiritual hub and heart for the family to be as one. This was the true spirit of why we do residential architecture; to create homes.” Going forward, Ernest Tsui Architects + Partners will be seeking to build upon its current success and continue with its collaborative approach, as Immanuel is proud to conclude. “Recently, we have successfully been able to develop one of our team members’ aspirations to run a bespoke workshop and small project construction firm. It is our ultimate aim to achieve the personal development goals for all the team under our existing, award-winning umbrella, and although this will be a tough challenge, we look forward to overcoming it.” Contact: Immanuel Gaskin + Ernest Tsui Address: 25 Maidenshaw Road, Epsom, Surrey, KT19 8HE, UK Phone: 07957 650451 Website: www.ernesttsui-architects.co.uk Ernest ArchitectureWith A Difference Style
