A new concept restaurant has opened at the Algarve’s iconic Vale do Lobo resort. SMASH is a light-filled, family-focused eatery offering feelgood vibes to all who visit. The flexible venue, located overlooking the tennis courts at Vale do Lobo’s Tennis Academy, has been designed to appeal to all, with an exceptional menu designed around health, nutrition and taste.
The ethos of SMASH ensures that the restaurant caters to all tastes, with an emphasis on raw, natural and plant-based ingredients. The Very Healthy menu options support diners who want to maintain their preferred diet while on holiday. The Very Nutritive options are focused on energy-packed dishes for those wanting to put in a powerful performance on the court whilst Very Tasty choices pair delicious indulgences with healthy ingredients.
Diners can pick and choose items from each of the three menu themes to suit their taste, needs and mood. SMASH also offers a tempting children’s menu, with the restaurant’s youngest diners invited to choose their dessert from the artisan ice cream counter. In addition to health-conscious options, SMASH offers artisan pizzas, burgers, and pasta, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
SMASH’s interior design reflects the natural feel of the menu. From the terracotta flagstones of the outside patio that faces the tennis courts, to the eclectic mix of solid wooden chairs, natural materials abound. The cool, contemporary Mediterranean feel is light and airy, with wood, rattan, straw and plants all contributing to a healthy glow that appeals to the senses on multiple levels.
Open for lunch and dinner, SMASH offers several distinct areas for dining. The outdoor patio provides a serene, zen-like atmosphere featuring an authentic Portuguese fountain. Inside, diners can enjoy a cosy setting with a beautifully refurbished fireplace.
The dining spaces at the Tennis Academy cater to every occasion, whether you’re grabbing breakfast, enjoying a quick drink, indulging in a leisurely family meal, or unwinding after a tennis match, workout, or swim. Open daily from 8 am to 11 pm, the menus are thoughtfully designed to appeal to a range of tastes.
Recent upgrades at the Tennis Academy include 4 new padel courts, a new swimming pool deck area, sunbeds, parasols, and five new family-centric zones with Balinese beds and settees.

The launch of SMASH complements the Tinto and Doce restaurants that opened at Vale do Lobo earlier this year. All three are operated by Vale do Lobo and part of significant new investment in the resort by owner and operator Kronos Homes, as it invites a new generation of holidaymakers, golfers and property owners to “create their own traditions” at the resort. In addition to SMASH, the Tennis Academy has benefited from a new swimming pool experience, two new deck areas, new sunbeds and parasols and the addition of five family-centric areas with Balinese beds, settees and coffee tables.
Providing family-friendly sophistication and welcoming local residents as well as Vale do Lobo resort guests, SMASH is proving to be a major hit with diners of all ages. The experienced and creative Algarvian chef – Pedro Ruivo – will continue to expand the menu, with an exciting new brunch option due to launch by the end of September.
